Vince McMahon Wins ECW Title At Backlash
The show is opening with the Hardys defending the tag titles against Cade and Murdoch. The Hardys defeated Cade and Murdoch when Matt pinned Murdoch after Jeff hit Murdoch with the swanton bomb.
There was a backstage segment with Umaga and the McMahons. Vince told Shane that he wants Shane to be the new ECW Champion. Shane told Vince he's rather have him win it after all he's been through with Umaga. After Vince agreed and left, Shane made a look like he was annoyed with Vince.
Melina vs. Mickie James for the WWE Women's Championship is up next. Melina retained after cleanly pinning Mickie James after a reverse DDT. This was one of the better divas matches this year.
Maria interviewed Edge backstage which ended with Mr. Kennedy interrupting and wishing Edge luck. Another preview for 'The Condemned' aired.
MVP vs. Chris Benoit for the U.S. Championship is up next. Benoit retained the title after pinning MVP with a small package.
There was a backstage interview with John Cena and Randy Orton which was mostly Cena inferring that Orton was gay. Ron Simmons came out at the end and, well, you know the rest.
The ECW title match is up next. Vince McMahon won the ECW title after pinning Bobby Lashley. Umaga hit two splashes from the top, and then Vince tagged in to get the victory and the title.
Backstage Vince and Shane ran into the ECW Originals and they basically just gloated and mock chanted 'ECW'.
The Undertaker vs. Batista in the Last Man Standing match is up next. The match ended in a draw when Batista speared the Undertaker off the stage and both couldn't get up by the 10 count. Undertaker remains World Champion. The match itself was the best so far in a PPV with all good matches so far. Both later got up and walked to the back.
The four way WWE title match is up next. John Cena retained the title in yet another good match. Edge hit Randy Orton with a spear, and then Cena hit Edge with the FU, after which Michaels hit Cena with the superkick. Cena ended up falling on Orton to capture the pin.
