Benoit Update: Japan, WWE Niagara Falls, & More

WWE.com has now pulled all remaining mentions of Chris Benoit and the Benoit family tragedy off its main page and the website as a whole. The website is now covering all current storylines coming off of Sunday's Vengeance PPV and the ECW on Sci Fi broadcast this past Tuesday.

Coverage of the Benoit family tragedy got lots of media attention overseas in the UK, Japan, Australia and many other places (thanks to everyone who sent us word about this). The story was said to have been front page news in Japan.

Jon H. sent this in: I've been in Niagara Falls, Canada during the announcement of Benoit's death. After hearing about it on the TV in my hotel, I took a trip to the WWE Shop in Niagara Falls. It seems that ALL Chris Benoit merchandise has been taken out of stock, and isn't available to purchase. Now that I'm home, I've noticed that all merchandise on wweshop.com relating to Benoit is taken off as well. Also at the WWE Shop in Niagara Falls, there are cement blocks with wrestlers' hands and their signatures planted around (cement imprints). One of them were Chris Benoit's and I was told that his was going to be taken down on June 28th. Whether this out of respect or disgrace, I'm not sure.
