What You Didn?t See On One Night Stand
Trace passed along the following off air report from last night's WWE One Night Stand in Jacksonville, Florida to the guys over at PWInsider.com:
The arena was not sold out though came very close. There were empty seats scattered in every section of the arena including the floor seats.
Pre-show Dark Match saw WWE Intercontinental champion Santino Marello defeat Chris Masters in a decent match that saw The Masterpiece go for the Masterlock only to have it reversed into a sunset flip for the pin.
The crowd itself was very lively and into the show and responsive in a paint by numbers type of way. All the faces got big reactions and all the heels got booed for the most part.
The loudest reaction of the night goes to John Cena with Bobby Lashley surprisingly right behind him. There was a pop for the Sandman amongst a few Original ECW fans scattered throughout the arena. Tommy Dreamer pointed to me in my bWo shirt and then threw his shirt towards me but missed.
I don't know how the show came across on PPV but live it was awesome. The only match that didn't really do anything for me was Vince vs. Lashley. It seemed like a gang beating until the end and Lashley made a Hogan-like recovery to vanquish those evil McMahons.
Surprisingly, some of the loudest reactions came during the Lumberjack match. Stevie, Balls, and Val Venis were working the crowd trying to get them to cheer on Kane and doing a fairly successful job doing it. Funniest moment of the night was Benoit's role in the match. After coming out and walking around the ring, he did nothing but stand there other than slap the mat once near the end. He did not seem thrilled to be out there.
To wrap it up, good show, got my money's worth and what I thought would happen, happened. The undercard was great and the two main events were just OK.
