News & Notes: Piper, Mysterio, RVD, & More News

"Rowdy" Roddy Piper was featured in MTV's "The Super Sweet 16: The Movie" that aired on the network over the weekend. Piper plays the role of the father of one of the main characters. While he isn't "Roddy Piper" in the flick, his character is a former professional wrestler who used to wrestle in a kilt. This was Piper's first project since his lymphoma went into remission. The film will be released on DVD tomorrow.

WWE will release a new three DVD set on Rey Mysterio. The set will be titled "Biggest Little Man" and will hit stores on October 23rd in the U.S. In addition to the Mysterio set, WWE will also release a new Steve Austin set called "The Triumph and Tragedy of World Class Championship Wrestling" as well as a new Cena set called "John Cena: My Life."

Rob Van Dam is not under a non-compete agreement from his WWE contract. After his deal with WWE expired on July 1st after he opted not to renew, he was available to work with any company that he wanted. When WWE releases a talent that is when there is a non-compete agreement where WWE will pay the wrestler for 90 days in exchange for them not working for another company. That is not the case for RVD and he could work for TNA if he wanted. However, it has been said that Van Dam plans to take some time away from wrestling and spend some time with his family.
