WWE RAW Results (7/23): Rhodes Attacked, Hardy/Kennedy!

- From the Arco Arena in Sacramento, Calif.

- Raw opens with Acting General Manager Jonathan Coachman taking credit for last nights successful Great American Bash PPV ? he says we now look ahead to SummerSlam, he says tonight we will find out who John Cena will defend the WWE Title against. He also plugs the "Champions Only" match between WWE Champion John Cena and Women's Champion Candice Michelle as they face Intercontinental Champion Umaga and World Tag Team Champions Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch.

- J.R. & King welcome us to Raw

- In the ring the red carpet is set out with a table with a feast on one side and a small cup and paper plate on the other side a throne is on the side of the feast and a stool is on the side of the paper plate. King Booker and Queen Sharmell make their way to the ring, Booker sits in the throne on the "rich" side and addresses "Jerome", Booker says he and Lawler got off to the wrong foot last week. Booker invites Lawler in the ring to debate who the real King should be. Booker claims the reason he should be recognized as King is because he won the King of the Ring Tournament last year, Booker goes off on one and Lawler finally gets a say, Jerry says you are only a King if the people recognize you as a King, he then claims that he and the people think of Booker as a "pompous, idiotic, royal pain in the arse!". Lawler decks Booker and he rolls out of the ring, Lawler then throws the feast food over Booker.

(1) Melina & Beth Phoenix vs. Mickie James & Maria w/ Santino Marella
Beth and Mickie start out, Mickie gets a hurricanrana early, Melina is tagged in. Maria is wearing super hot tight spandex pants tonight and her ass crack keeps slipping out. Maria and Mickie double team Melina, Melina fires back on Maria, Beth and Melina continue to work over Maria, Mickie gets the tag, Maria gets a crossbody on Melina, Melina and Beth start to take control again until Santino trips them both up, this allows Maria to hit a bulldog on Melina for the victory.

- Backstage Jerry Brisco is talking to Cody Rhodes about his match tonight, Orton approaches him, Orton says he could have taken Dusty out last night, Cody asked why he didn't? Orton said it was "pity" Cody said it was because Orton is scared, Orton gives Cody the opportunity t back out but Rhodes refuses

- A Snitsky video airs

- Todd Grisham interviews John Cena, he congratulates him for his victory last night, and he notes he must now team up with Candice to face Umaga and Cade & Murdoch. Cena says he will basically be going out there by himself to take on their 3 opponents, he then shifts focus to who the new #1 Contender will be, he says in the past few months he has defeated Shawn Michaels, Great Khali and Bobby Lashley to keep hold of the title, he tells whoever it may be that if they want some, come get some.

(2) Tag Team Match ? Sandman & Hacksaw Jim Duggan vs. Carlito & William Regal
Regal and Sandman start out, Carlito and Regal work over Sandman, Sandman manages to get to Duggan, Sandman and Regal fight on the outside, Duggan misses his clothesline on Carlito and falls victim to the Back Stabber for a victory for Regal and Carlito

- Graphics are shown for Randy Orton vs. Cody Rhodes and Jeff Hardy vs. Mr. Kennedy later tonight.

- Backstage Carlito is talking to Regal about their victory, he says he should be #1 Contender, he takes a bite of his apple and realizes he doesn't want to spit it at Regal so he spits it in the other direction, he then realizes he has just spat it in Lashley's face! He runs from Lashley to the ring, Carlito got on the mic and said he was sorry and it was a mistake, Lashley comes to the ring and Carlito jumps him, Carlito tried to whip Lashley into the ring steps but Lashley jumps over them! Bobby then grabs Carlito and hits a running powerslam on him, Lashley then celebrates in the ring.

- Up next; Randy Orton vs. Cody Rhodes

(3) Randy Orton vs. Cody Rhodes
Randy dominates Cody early, Randy slaps Cody, Cody responds with a dropkick, Rhodes continues to get near falls on Orton, Randy hits his inverted back breaker, Randy stomps on Cody, Cody fights back but Orton catches him with a dropkick, Cody again nearly pins Orton, Cody flew from the top rope but Orton missed, Randy immediately sets up Cody for the RKO and connects for the victory. After the match Randy sets up Cody for that devastating kick, Dusty Rhodes makes the save and hits Randy with a few punches and a Bionic Elbow, while Dusty is checking on Cody, Orton manages to recover and hits Dusty with the kick, referees run to ringside to make Orton leave, Cody tries to check on his dad, medics bring a stretcher to ringside for Dusty.

- "Moments ago" footage is shown, we are shown Dusty with a neck brace on being wheeled from the ring.

(4) Mr. Kennedy vs. Jeff Hardy
on the mic, Kennedy says he is the next #1 Contender, a lot of good wrestling between Kennedy and Hardy, Hardy builds momentum and takes control, Jeff leaps from the inside of the ring to the outside on Kennedy, back in the ring, Kennedy takes control of Jeff, Hardy went for the Whisper in the Wind but slipped off the top rope and landed on his head, Kennedy tried to take advantage to no avail, Jeff then goes for the Whisper again and connects, Jeff then hits a facebuster and goes for the Swanton, Kennedy rolls out the ring, Jeff runs the crowd barrier and leaps onto Kennedy, they fight to the entrance way, Jeff whips Kennedy into the Raw set, Jeff runs back t the ring to make the ref's count just in time, Jeff wins by Countout ? great match

- Backstage Dusty is seen being put into the ambulance which rushes him to hospital

- A new Triple H returns video airs ? he will return at SummerSlam

(5) Paul London & Brian Kendrick vs. The World's Greatest Tag Team
great fast-paced wrestling from both teams, WGTT take control early, London & Kendrick fire back with an array of high flying maneuvers, Haas hits a German Suplex on London for the victory

- Footage is again shown of the Orton-Cody-Dusty saga from earlier

- King Booker once again makes his way to the stage, Booker tells Jerry Lawler he will face him in the ring next week and "beat him like the dog that he is", Lawler says he can't wait for next week, he says he doesn't often call himself "King" but he will show Booker why everybody else has called him that for 30 years

- Backstage Todd Grisham asks Jonathan Coachman if he has decided who will face Cena at SummerSlam, he says he has but before he announces it, he needs to go tell the challenger, Candice approaches Coachman and asks him to reconsider the main event, she doesn't want to be in the ring with Umaga and Cade & Murdoch, Coach tells her he needs her and she will do fine.

(6) No Disqualification Champions Only Match ? World Tag Team Champions Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch and Intercontinental Champion Umaga vs. Women's Champion Candice Michelle and WWE Champion John Cena
Cade, Murdoch and Umaga totally dominate Cena, Candice looks scared for her life, Cena takes down Cade and Murdoch but Umaga catches Cena with a huge sidewalk slam, Cade & Murdoch hold Candice in the corner for Umaga, Jeff Hardy thankfully makes the save hitting Umaga with a steel chair over and over again, Umaga retreats to the back and Candice runs away from the match, Cena hits Murdoch with an FU for the victory.

After the match, Cena is celebrating, Randy Orton appears behind him, Cena turns around into an RKO from Orton, Jonathan Coachman announces that the #1 Contender for the WWE Championship at SummerSlam is Randy Orton. Randy stares at Cena as Raw goes off the air?
