Thanks to Mark C. for sending this TNA house show report from Austin in:
Just got back from the TNA house show in Austin, Tx and wanted to send in my report. Unbelievable show!
The show was held in a small banquet hall with probably less than 500 in attendance. We sat ringside next to the announce table and J.B. informed us that the show was added sort-of last minute, hence the small turnout. D-Lo Brown was also ringside as a road agent.
Eric Young def. James Storm. Very comedic match, with Earl Hebner getting in there and even wrestling with Storm! Hebner came out to some "You screwed Brett" chants.
Awesome Kong def. Miss Jackie to retain the Knockout Championship. Kinda upset I was spoiled to the outcome of yet-to-air Impact. Kong wins after an Awesome Bomb.
Motor City Machine Guns def. Elix Skipper and Johnny Devine. Great match, Motor City is WAY over and Devine got a ton of heat. Devine is still carrying the X-title. We started a Motor City chant early in the match and Devine looked over at us and called us douche bags. Haha. Motor City wins after multiple kicks to Devine.
Samoa Joe def. Christian Cage. Cage was WAY over here, with Joe getting just very few supporters. By far the best match of the night. Joe wins with the Muscle Buster.
Intermission: J.B. announces Joe will be signing autographs at the merchandise table. I was able to snag an autograph and picture with the Samoan Submission Machine. More nagging from the crowd towards Earl Hebner, who was chilling in the ring.
Black Machismo Jay Letal def. Kaz to retain X-Division Championship. Good match. Lethal started out on the mic trying to get Kaz to do the Macho Man impressions. Kaz wouldn't do it but Lethal finally got him to do it when he hooked his arms back-to-back and did it with him. Comedic and good match. Lethal wins after a Lethal Combination.
LAX def. Rock-n-Rave infection. HUGE pop for LAX down here in Latino Country. Rave and Hoyt lots of heat despite Hoyt being from Texas. LAX wins after a top rope cutter from Homicide to Hoyt on the shoulders of Hernandez.
Booker T def. Robert Roode by disqualification. Back and forth match. Booker T did the spin-a-rooni to a huge pop. Roode got disqualified after hitting Booker with a chair. He started to walk away from the ring before going back to try and hit him again. Ms. Brooks then came out and grabbed the chair, but Roode pie-faced her and she rolled out of the ring. Roode turned around to a kick from Booker into the chair and face.
I've been to WWE house shows, and this is by far the best house show I have ever been to. Booker took pictures in the ring for paying fans ($20) after the show, but other stars came out and signed autographs and took pictures at ringside for free (Ms. Brooks, Homicide, Jay Lethal, Motor City, Hoyt, Kaz). All were class acts and really nice and cool. We talked to Ms. Brooks and she is really sweet and nice and we told her that they need to come to Texas for a PPV and she says they really want to. J.B. was also real cool, I know he was running the show but he still took the time to chat with us for a bit. He kept thanking us for coming out.
Overall fun and great show, even WWE sign guy was there (he's from Dallas I think). J.B. said they would be returning to Texas this year, I just hope in PPV form.
