Backstage News & Notes From TNA's NYC Show Inside
Here are some live notes from TNA's New York City debut last night at Webster Hall:
?? The ring was set up on the stage with the crowd in front of it in something of a mosh pit setup. TNA also had ringside seating around three sides of the ring on the stage. There was a second level of seating in the balcony as well. It was a fun, intimate crowd.
?? The ring the company used was smaller than the standard six sided ring the company usually uses
?? TNA President Dixie Carter was in attendance and walked the floor of the building before the show began greeting fans. She was later introduced to the crowd.
?? Ronnie Lang's Atlas Security handled security for the show, specifically crowd control which felt like a flashback watching Atlas surround Team 3D as they battled through the audience.
?? The live crowd was all over Earl Hebner, chanting "You Screwed Bret.".
?? There was a post show autograph session with a lot of the stars who worked the show and Kurt Angle taking Polaroids for $20 inside the ring.
?? A lot of the wrestlers were willingly posing for fans and signing if asked as they milled around the venue...Pat "Simon Diamond" Kenney ran the backstage area as the agent assigned to the show..
?? Aside from Dreamer and Guido, visiting at the show were former ECW ring announcer Stephen DeAngelis, the infamous Bill Apter, and ROH's Becky Bayless....There's already talk of returning to NYC, whether here or in another venue.
?? TNA debuts in Westbury, NY tonight with what is announced as an advance sellout.
?? Overall, a solid card with good wrestling and a crowd that came to have fun. A great first impression for the NYC market in my opinion.
?? Here are quick results of the show before a sellout crowd of 800 at Webster Hall:
