Spain Banning WWE TV?, WrestleMania Price Going Up, More
Source – Wrestling Observer Newsletter
- The price for this year's WrestleMania pay-per-view will be going up from $49.95 to $54.95. It is also rumored that they will be charging $69.95 for High Definition.
- WWE is getting a lot of bad press in Spain. Both La Asociacion de Usuarios de la Comunicacion and La Condereacion Nacional de Padres de Familia y Padres del Alumnos have called for a ban of WWE television during hours children would be watching. Most every major newspaper picked up on the story on February 12th, saying they want WWE banned except from the hours of 10 p.m. until 6 a.m. The same thing happened in Mexico in 1955 which led to Lucha Libre being off television in Mexico City until the late 80s.
- WWE has yet to transform their permanent studio to HD so they are using a temporary studio. Right now they have two state-of-the-art production trucks and are leasing a custom transmission truck for live events. This fall they are expected to make their Hamilton Avenue TV studios fully HD compliant. They are also still taping all broadcasts in both Standard Definition and High Definition as many oversea markers still aren't in HD.
