Batista/Umaga/'Mania 24, SD! News & Notes, & More News Inside

For those of you that didn't read the SmackDown taping results, Batista vs. Umaga was officially added to the WrestleMania XXIV card in a match for brand supremacy on last night's edition of SmackDown on the CW Network.

Also announced on last night's edition of SmackDown, John Legend will perform America The Beautiful at WrestleMania XXIV.

Here is what happened after SmackDown went off the air (as noted in our Spoiler report): Edge backs up on the outside as Batista's music hits. Kane's music follows. Edge is frozen in fear and selling his "injuries." They back him into the ring, he tries to escape but they put him back in. Kane hits a chokeslam, Batista a Spear, and Undertaker a Tombstone. Kane and The Undertaker exit ringside with their brothers of destruction handshake. Batista goes all around the arena shaking hands with fans on his way out. Edge, finally gets up in the ring and says that Undertaker won't have Kane and Batista at WrestleMania. Tony Chimmel announces Edge as the World Heavyweight Champion and tells everyone goodnight. Edge's music plays.

A number of people in both Ring of Honor and TNA Wrestling are as baffled as anyone else about the official WWE website including news on their promotions. No one is complaining but everyone that I have spoken with has said it is a very weird move by WWE.

Today's edition of the New York Times has an article online profiling Vince and Linda McMahon. The article features a quote by Linda as she refers to Vince as a "marshmallow" and a real "pushover" and talks about Vince sending her a bouquet of yellow roses on Valentine's Day. The news worthy piece out of the article is that WWE will break ground this summer on a $70 million project that will nearly triple their 39,000-square-foot television studio in Connecticut. The article mentions how WWE just completed a $20 million upgrade to their studio to allow them to broadcast their television in High Definition.
