Controversial college basketball coach Bobby Knight has rejected TNA's offer to become their first-ever "head coach". A spokesman for Texas Tech University contacted TNA to inform them that Knight would not take them up on their offer, nor would he tape a brief segment for TNA iMPACT!. Jeff Jarrett commented on the situation at TNA's official website. "We knew luring Coach Knight to TNA wrestling was a long-shot, sort of like a half-court shot at the buzzer, but we had to give it a shot." Jarrett added, "The door is always open to Coach Knight."

Wade Keller of the Professional Wrestling Torch is reporting that Matt Hardy had elbow surgery while he was out recovering from a burst appendix in November. This is one of the reasons why Hardy was out of action for so long, however, he is now said to be 100%.

ESPN.com has a feature on Floyd Mayweather working WWE's upcoming WrestleMania XXIV pay-per-view. The piece features video footage of Mayweather at the WrestleMania press conference from last week.

Carl DeMarco (President of WWE for Canada, Latin America and China) told the Calgary Herald that WWE would like to find a Chinese wrestler to help grow the company in China. He made a comparison to how the NBA has used the success of Yao Ming to gain popularity in the country.
