With nothing official including a date or venue, the tentative plan is for the first Elite XC special to air on CBS television on Saturday, April 26th. The contract calls for four Elite XC airings between now and February of next year. However, there is no guarantee all four specials would air, and the general feeling is that the first special needs to capture an audience to justify a follow up show. As part of the deal, CBS is purchasing stock in the MMA group. Thus, the network has a vested interest in the promotion, and it will be interesting to see how CBS markets Elite XC. There is also nothing official regarding the card, although, most believe Kimbo Slice will be involved in the main event. Possible opponent for Slice? Enter forty four year old Ken Shamrock. Shamrock is preparing for his next fight against Robert Berry at the 3/8 Cage Rage/EliteXC show in London, England.
WWE released developmental wrestler Chett the Jett (Neil Bzibziak), who was just coming off a recent Wellness Policy violation. There were plans last year to call up Bzibziak doing a Polish gimmick, until they realized he couldn't speak Polish.
Viewers Choice in Canada is advertising the price of Wrestlemania XXIV as $54.99.
Speaking of ESPN, I was surprised to hear the name of Ric Flair mentioned on yesterday's PBA telecast on the cable network. There was a reference to Flair's golden locks when the announcer's where talking about a current professional bowler.
