WWE Judgment Day: Chris Jericho Vs. Shawn Michaels
Shawn Michaels vs. WWE Intercontinental Champion Chris Jericho
Chris Jericho came out first to a positive, albeit quiet reaction. Lilian Garcia introduced him as the Intercontinental Champion, but never called the match a title match. Jim Ross then stated that the match isn't about the Intercontinental title. Shawn Michaels came out next to a good reaction. Ross noted that Michaels and Jericho are 2 of only 5 grand slam champions in the history of WWE.
Jericho kept trying to get Michaels' leg early on, but Michaels repeatedly kicked him off. Michaels and Jericho then traded holds and pinfall attempts before Michaels was able to get Jericho in a modified figure four leglock (almost an Indian deathlock). Jericho made the ropes and Michaels broke the hold. Michaels then slapped Jericho, infuriating Jericho.
The two continued to go back and forth for the next several minutes. Finally Michaels went for an elbow off the top rope onto Jericho, but Jericho raised his knees to get the advantage.
Jericho at one point was able to get the Walls Of Jericho on Michaels, but Michaels made the ropes. Jericho then went to the top to hit Michaels, who was standing outside the ropes, but Michaels hit sweet chin music on Jericho, knocking Y2J out of the ring. HBK then threw Y2J in the ring and covered him for a 2 count. HBK then hit an elbow from the top and went for sweet chin music again, but as he kept going to kick Jericho, Jericho would fall. Finally Michaels went for it but Jericho surprised Michaels and hit the codebreaker on Michaels. He was slow to make the cover, and only got a two count.
The end of the match saw Jericho trying to get the Walls on Michaels again, but Michaels was able to reverse it and get the three count. Great match.
Winner via pinfall: Shawn Michaels
After the match, Jericho held out his hand. Michaels reluctantly shook it and it looked like Jericho was going to attack Michaels, but he didn't. Jericho clapped as Michaels left the ring.
