Smackdown opening video and pyro hits.
Michael Cole welcomes us to Smackdown by stating that Vickie Guerrero's decision to keep the World Heavyweight Title vacant is one of the most controversial in recent memory.
Smackdown comes from Des Moines, Iowa this week.
Ring announcer Justin Roberts introduces the General Manager of Smackdown, Vickie Guerrero. She came out on the wheelchair with Edge by her side. She talks about the pressures of running Smackdown, saying that despite the pressure she fulfils her duties as GM. One of her duties is to enforce the rules and regulations. A championship can only be won by pinfall or submission. You suck chants break out. She recaps Judgment Day and then says "Thank God I was there to correct that decision". She then made a huge announcement for One Night Stand without worrying about any repercussions from the Undertaker. The most extreme World Heavyweight Title Match in history: Tables, Ladders and Chairs, Edge v Undertaker! If the Undertaker loses this match it will be the last time we see him because if he loses he will be banished from the entire WWE. That announcement is met with huge boos from the crowd.
Tonight on Smackdown, Teddy Long is on the VIP Lounge.
Match 1: Six Person Mixed Tag Match
Jesse, Festus & Cherry v Deuce, Domino & Maryse
Match starts off with Festus going wild with unorthodox moves and Festus is tagged in. Deuce in. End of last summer since Deuce & Domino won. Foley admitted to checking out Maryse on WWE. Foley is a breath of fresh air to this show. A schoolboy cover from Deuce on Jesse. Domino in on Jesse. Another kickout by Jesse. Jesse with double knees to the head. Jesse fights back. Backstage, Edge and Vickie sharing a tender moment when Chavo Guerrero shows up apologising for walking out last week. Vickie makes a match for tonight, Chavo v Undertaker. Edge thinks Chavo is afraid but Chavo says he is a Guerrero and not afraid of anything. Edge reassures Chavo that he will have back up from the entire Familia!
The clock ticks and MVP heads to the ring for the VIP Lounge. MVP states that the VIP Lounge is for people than the wrestling fans. MVP doesn't like his guest but he wanted to give Teddy Long an opportunity to tell his side of the story behind his quitting as Assistant General Manager. Foley and Cole discuss Regal's firing and Foley begs Vince McMahon to fire Vickie Guerrero.
MVP says he won't let Teddy tell his side of the story. He has things to say to Teddy. MVP doesn't forget what Teddy Long put MVP through in the early part of his career. MVP says Teddy Long is jealous of MVP's looks, dress sense, Long says he doesn't have to take this and is out of here, MVP says Long cant leave until he says so but Batista's music hits and MVP has a shocked look on his face. MVP tells Batista not to try and play the hero. Batista wanted to take the opportunity to thank Teddy for his time as Smackdown GM and wishes him good luck. If MVP touches Long Batista will shove his fist right down MVP's throat. MVP says Batista needs to be worried about his Stretcher Match at One Night Stand. MVP says Batista is being disrespectful. Batista goes on to be disrespectful by tearing the VIP Lounge apart bit by bit.
Backstage Edge and Chavo are discussing the Undertaker when MVP storms in. He is irate over Batista and gets into an argument with Edge that he is here to speak to the General Manager not him. Vickie makes a match for tonight, MVP v Batista. MVP is not impressed.
Match 2: Finlay v Chuck Palumbo
Even start to this match, first time on WWE TV that these two have wrestled. Finlay works on Palumbo's leg. Foley talks about Finlay's tendency to cause trouble in bars. Foley talks up Palumbo's chances of being World Champion someday. Sleeper hold by Palumbo. He drives the knee into Finlay's back. Drags Finlay to the corner and shoulder charges him into the ribs. Palumbo knocks Finlay to the outside and then delivers a kick to Finlay's head. Palumbo breaks the 10 count and drags Finlay back to the ring. Cover by Palumbo, Finlay kicks out. Mick Foley states that One Night Stand is his favourite night of the year because all the matches are extreme. I loved the match Foley had with Edge against Tommy Dreamer and Terry Funk at One Night Stand 2006.
Still to come tonight, Undertaker v Chavo Guerrero with La Familia lurking in the background.
They show footage of Santino Marella from RAW and what went down on Jimmy Kimmel Live! I am loving this feud with Santino and Rodney the Piper! Marella is the best thing going in WWE at the moment. Cousin Sal v Santino Marella will take place in the near future.
Match 4: Nunzio v Vladimir Kozlov
Kozlov still undefeated in the WWE. USA chants break out. Kozlov has the same trainer as Vladimir Putin. Kozlov with a great bridge on Nunzio. Kozlov with the big boot to Nunzio's chest, Nunzio fights back but headbutts Nunzio. Kozlov scoops him and onto the top rope and kicks Nunzio in the ribs before taking him down to the canvas with a bang for the pinfall. More USA chants after the victory. Kozlov badly needs to change his gimmick. The "I Love WWE" gimmick was much better than this one he has where he comes to the ring with no music and does no promo work.
Winner: Vladimir Kozlov
Match 5: Matt Hardy & Kofi Kingston v Elijah Burke & Shelton Benjamin
Kofi and Elijah start it off. I was sad Kofi lost his unbeaten streak on ECW. Kofi goes for an early pinfall. Hardy chants begin. He is tagged in by Elijah. Hardy works on Burke's shoulder. Burke goes to work on Burke's ribs until Hardy cheapshots Burke with a great punch and then hits a suplex. Hardy knocks Benjamin off the apron. Burke uses the distraction to hit Hardy with a neckbreaker. Benjamin tagged in. Burke and Benjamin double team Hardy and drop him neck first on the top rope. Burke puts his knee on Hardys neck and applies pressure on the rope. Benjamin gets in and goes for the cover but Hardy kicks out. Hardy catches Benjamin with a side effect and tags Kofi in. Kofi does an innovative head scissors and then a double legdrop. The high cross body leads to a pin that is broken up by Burke. Kofi with the spinning heel kick to Shelton's head for the victory. Great performance by Kofi and an enjoyable tag team match.
Winners: Matt Hardy & Kofi Kingston
Up next, Undertaker v Chavo Guerrero
Main Event: Undertaker v Chavo Guerrero w/La Familia
Cole and Foley recap what happened at Judgment Day with the Undertaker. Chavo uses closed fists on Taker which is broken up by the referee. Taker hits Chavo with vicious punches and elbows his throats in the corner. Foley says Taker v Edge could be a classic at One Night Stand and I agree with him. Taker hung up on the ropes, Chavo knocks him out of the ring where Edge & Edgeheads attack him but they are thrown out by Charles Robinson. Chavo tries to keep Undertaker down, kicking away at the knees. Taker fights back with a boot to the mid section. Chavo works on Taker but he sits up and then Taker punches away at Chavo with a headbutt to the corner. Back bodydrop to Chavo. Snake eyes from Taker. Foley and Cole hype the TLC match at One Night Stand. Chavo rakes the eyes as Bam Neely distracts the referee. Neely gets knocked down by Taker, low blow by Chavo. Chavo goes for the frogsplash but Taker catches him midair and hits the Tombstone. This one is history.
Winner: Undertaker
