WWE Divas Talk Draft, Candice Michelle's MRI, Backlash Buyrate
Partial Source: The Wrestling Observer Newsletter
Candice Michelle is scheduled to undergo an MRI this week on her collarbone. If the results are good then Michelle will be cleared to begin weight training for her return to the ring. The hope internally is that Michelle will be able to return by SummerSlam. For those who remember, Michelle suffered her second broken clavicle just before WrestleMania 24 in her return match back with the company a few months ago.
Initial numbers for the Backlash PPV on April 27 from WWE is that the show did 214,000 buys worldwide with 135,000 domestic. These early numbers are already ahead of last year's Backlash PPV that did a 210,000 buys worldwide with 139,000 domestic (although this year's show is expected to beat that figure when everything comes in). Last year's event was headlined by John Cena vs. Shawn Michaels vs. Edge vs. Randy Orton along with a Last Man Standing Match between The Undertaker and Batista.
WWE.com has posted a video of the WWE Divas talking about tomorrow night's Draft. Among those featured in the piece include Lilian Garcia, Maria, Melina, and Jillian Hall. Both Lilian & Maria want to stay on Raw because they consider it home. Lilian has been on Raw since the brand's inception in April 2002 and she wants to stay there until she's done with WWE. Maria said, "The draft? So many things can happen. So many exciting things. So many new things. But the one thing I hope doesn't happen is me leaving RAW. Um, RAW has been my home for four years. I cannot imagine being anywhere else. I'm sure I would make new friends and have exciting adventures over on SmackDown! or ECW but it's great to feel home – RAW is my home. So I really really hope that I don't go anywhere." Melina also added, "I have an emotion of where I'm not worried because I know no matter where I go I'm going to do my best – I'm going to do good. But then I'm also excited because it's going to be interesting. There's going to be so many opportunities. Wrestling with different people, interacting with different people. But to tell you the truth? I'm all for going to different shows. I've already been on SmackDown! I've made appearances on ECW but I've never been apart of ECW so that would be interesting. But right now my heart's at RAW."
I hope you all had a good weekend and as always I hope to see you on Tuesday night at 9EST for WrestleZone Radio. We'll be talking the post-draft results this week so it should be a fun show.
