WWE One Night Stand Results
Welcome to our live coverage of WWE One Night Stand. The show is opening with Jeff Hardy facing Umaga in a 'Falls Count Anywhere' Match.
Falls Count Anywhere
Jeff Hardy vs. Umaga
Hardy started the match rushing into Umaga which backfired and Umaga gained the early advantage. The early part of the match took place in the ring with Umaga dominating.
The match eventually went outside towards the backstage area and turned into a wild brawl with Umaga continuing to dominate. Hardy at one point had a hard time getting a fire extinguisher to work, but finally was able to spray it on Umaga multiple times and the match went to the back.
There were a few crazy spots, with Umaga chasing Hardy up a high flight of stairs and Hardy rode the railing from the top onto Umaga who was halfway up. They continued out to the front of the arena around the concessions stand, and then to the outside.
Outside at one point Jeff Hardy climbed a WWE 18 wheeler truck with Umaga following and Hardy knocked Umaga off down supposedly to the concrete (you couldn't see it from the TV angle). Hardy hit a swanton off of the top of the truck onto Umaga and got the pin. Good opener.
Winner by pinfall: Jeff Hardy
They showed a clip of Mick Foley explaining the stretcher match from earlier in the day.
Shawne Merriman was shown at ringside.
Singapore Cane Match (#1 Contender For The ECW Championship)
Big Show vs. Chavo Guerrero vs. John Morrison vs. CM Punk vs. Tommy Dreamer
The Big Show started the match dominating everyone. Finally everyone started attacking Big Show, and after Chavo hit a frogsplash on Show, Punk, Chavo, Morrison and Dreamer climbed a poll and got 4 singapore canes and beat the hell out of Big Show with them before knocking him out of the ring.
Outside of the ring, Punk went to hit Chavo with the cane but accidentally hit Shawne Merriman, who was at ringside. Merriman asked Punk for the cane, and then Merriman nailed Chavo with the cane.
The action continued outside the ring and finally all the competitors except for Show ended up back in the ring. Show remained injured outside. The four did some innovative spots before an angry Big Show recovered and got a cane and nailed the Miz (who was outside the ring) and Morrison with hard shots outside the ring.
Show brought an entire garbage can of canes into the ring with him and went to work and everyone with hard shots. These guys are going to be really hurting tomorrow. Hell, they'll be really hurting in a few minutes. Show nailed Dreamer with a chokeslam in the ring but didn't go for the cover. He stood Dreamer up, nailed him with a hard cane shot over the head and then pinned Dreamer with one foot on the chest. Wild brawl, and another good, physical match.
Winner via pinfall and getting an ECW Championship match at 'Night Of Champions': Big Show
A promo aired for Raw tonight hyping the million dollar giveaway.
Todd Grisham interviewed Vince McMahon backstage talking about the million dollar giveaway. McMahon said it will really happen and that it's not a stunt. He called it 'McMahon's Million Dollar Mania' and said he will give details tomorrow night. He stated that WWE employees are not eligible, Ron Simmons came in and you know the rest.
First Blood Match
John Cena vs. John "Bradshaw" Layfield
JBL came out first. Cena then came out to a mostly positive reaction. In the early part of the match though, Cena was starting to get booed when he was on the offense.
The two mostly brawled early on with JBL getting an early advantage. They went outside of the ring towards to back and JBL grated Cena's face on the ring barrier. JBL then took Cena back towards the ring, propped his head against the ring post and went to hit him with a chair but missed. JBL followed by hitting Cena with a microphone and then threw Cena back in the ring, continuing to nail Cena with the mic.
In the ring, Cena mounted a comeback nailing JBP with several shoulder tackles and then dropping the five knuckle shuffle. He went for an FU, but JBL reversed it and dropped Cena across the top rope on his throat. They are back outside the ring.
JBL got the ring steps and tried to throw them at Cena's head, but missed. JBL maintained control and hit Cena's head in the ring barrier.
Cena was able to regain control and was smashing JBL in the ring steps. Cena threw JBL in the ring and grabbed a chair, but before he could hit JBL, JBL kicked Cena. JBL went for a clothesline from hell but Cena ducked and slammed JBL head first into the chair. JBL then grabbed a chain that was wrapped in his towel, tied it around his fist and nailed Cena in the ribs. He went to hit Cena with the chained fist again but Cena turned it into an FU.
When they got back up JBL hit Cena with a big boot, knocking Cena into the ropes and tying him up. JBP went to the outside and grabbed a bullwhip from under the ring. Before he could use it, Cena got out of the ropes and got the STFU on JBL, using JBL's chain. JBL started bleeding from the mouth, giving Cena the win. Better than their past matches, but still nothing special.
Winner: John Cena.
A promo for WWE Night Of Champions aired.
Batista was shown in the back and Randy Orton approached him. Orton wished Batista well but Batista ignored him. Orton brought up the draft and said it would be great if they were to reform Evolution with Orton at the front and Batista by his side. Batista didn't say anything and just walked off.
The AT&T Mobile Vote is asking who will win the stretcher match, HBK or Batista.
I Quit Match
Beth Phoenix vs. Melina
One of Melina's paparazzi tripped while taking Melina's pics. Melina patted him on the back before getting into the ring.
Phoenix backed Melina up early but Melina attacked quickly, getting Phoenix in a guillotine. Phoenix was able to power out and get control.
The two traded the advantage a few times with Phoenix mostly dominating. At one point Phoenix got Melina in the same backbreaker that she got both Melina and Mickie James in at Judgment Day She then dropped Melina and put her in an armbar.
Phoenix continued to punish Melina, however Melina was able to gain the advantage for several minutes, including getting Phoenix in an armbar. Phoenix was able to finally power out and hit a running powerbomb on Melina.
Phoenix put Melina in a couple of different submission moves before finally getting a modified camel clutch on Melina causing Melina to quit. One of the better WWE women's matches in awhile.
Winner via submission: Beth Phoenix
John Cena was shown in the back with the doctor when Mickie James came in. They started talking when Mike Adamle came out of the bathroom and asked if Cena and James would want to come out with him later tonight. They declined and Adamle left Cena with JBL's Mamma Juanna energy drink.
Edge was shown in the back.
HBK is leading in the AT&T mobile vote with 59% to Batista's 41%.
Stretcher Match
Shawn Michaels vs. Batista
HBK came to the ring first, with Batista out next. Batista gained control early, and took Michaels outside of the ring and dropped him onto the stretcher. HBK turned it around and threw Batista into the ring steps and then into the ring post. Michaels continued to work away at Batista, even pushing the stretcher into Batista several times.
Michaels tried to put Batista onto the stretcher and Batista tried to block. Michaels got a chokehold on Batista and got him on the stretcher and choked him out. Michaels then started wheeling Batista to the back but Batista got up, kicked Michaels away and got the advantage.
Batista started working on Michaels back and then threw the show stopper back in the ring and continued to dominate HBK, focusing on Michaels's back. Michaels was able to regain control and nailed Batista with an elbow from the top rope, but he continued to sell his back. As Batista was getting up, HBK went for sweet chin music but Batista turned it into a clothesline. He went to Batista bomb outside of the ring but Michaels was able to wiggle out and superkick Batista out of the ring onto the stretcher.
Outside of the ring, Batista fell off the stretcher but Michaels put him back on, only for Batista to fight off. Michaels then used the stretcher as a battering ram, nailing Batista in the midsection several times before Batista blocked it and used the stretcher as a battering ram himself, knocking Michaels down. With Batista back in control, he threw Michaels back in the ring.
In the ring, Batista speared Michaels and then hit the Batista bomb. He then dragged Michaels out of the ring and onto the stretcher. Chris Jericho came out and was seemingly encouraging Michaels, which seemed really random. Batista stood back and watched, the referees sent Jericho back to the dressing room and Batista put Michaels back in the ring.
In the ring, Batista grabbed Michaels and told him he doesn't love him and isn't sorry and hit another Batista bomb on Michaels. He then dragged Michaels outside the ring onto the stretcher again and was wheeling the stretcher to the back again when Jericho came out again, blocking Batista. Jericho was encouraging Michaels to get back up while Batista again was just watching. Michaels fell off the stretcher and Batista grabbed the ring steps, brought them over to the stretcher and slammed Michaels on them. He then put Michaels back on the stretcher and wheeled Michaels over the finish line, winning the match. Another good physical match, with Batista put over strong.
Winner: Batista
A promo for Steve Austin's DVD aired.
Last Man Standing Match For The WWE Championship
Triple H (c) vs. Randy Orton
Orton came to the ring first, looking the most ripped I've seen him in awhile, almost at pre-Wellness program levels. Triple H was out next to a decent reaction, but nothing overwhelming.
Triple H dominated early on, throwing Randy Orton into the ring steps outside the ring and then continuing to dominate back in the ring before Orton hit a picture perfect dropkick on The Game. Triple H quickly recovered and threw Orton back out of the ring and continued to work Orton over.
Orton was able to both Triple H's attempt a pedigree on the announce table and dropped Triple H with a DDT face first on the outside of the ring. Orton got back in the ring and the referee counted 9 before Triple H was able to get to his feet.
Orton then removed some padding from the ring floor, exposing the concrete. He then went for an RKO onto the concrete, but Triple H put on the brakes and shoved Orton into the ring post. They ended up back in the ring and Orton continued to work over HHH. Orton then got the ring steps in the ring and nailed HHH in the head with them, but HHH got up again at 9. Orton grabbed a cord from under the ring and started choking out HHH with it. He let go and then went for an RKO, but HHH shoved him outside of the ring while he was in the air.
Outside of the ring the referee counted 7 but HHH stood Orton up and went on the offensive. Orton looked legitimately hurt from the fall. HHH went under the ring and grabbed a sledgehammer and nailed Orton with it. The referee counted 10 and The Game wins it.
Winner: Triple H
Officials attended to Orton outside the ring and Jim Ross noted that Orton may have broken his collarbone.
Another promo for 'Night Of Champions' aired.
Orton was still being attended to and he got up, favoring his left arm. His collarbone looked legitimately injured, and it seems like the match was ended prematurely. The fans were seemingle cheering for Orton as he left the ring but Orton shouted at the crowd to 'Shut The F*** Up'.
A lengthy video package aired for the Undertaker – Edge match so they're clearly stalling with the last match ending early.
TLC match for World Heavyweight Championship
Edge vs. Undertaker
As Edge made his way to the ring, Michael Cole remarked that Edge has been in almost every TLC match in history. Undertaker made his way to the ring with his standard 'B' show entrance (no druids or special effects).
Undertaker gained control of the match early throwing Edge around the ring and even hitting old school. Taker went to the outside grabbing a chair, but Edge dropkicked the chair into Taker's midsection as Undertaker was getting back into the ring. Edge then went to the outside and stacked two tables on top of each other before being attacked by Taker again and thrown into the ring steps.
The two traded the advantage several times once back in the ring. They later ended up back out of the ring with Edge using the ladder to his advantage. Edge then grabbed a chair and nailed Taker with a big unprotected chairshot to the head. He then started setting up a table and nailed Taker with another huge unprotected chairshot to the head. I can't believe how often those are still used. He then set Taker up on a table outside and hit a splash on Taker through the table.
Edge got back in the ring and started to climb the ladder, but Taker brought him down and Edge hit him with a spear out of nowhere. Edge then hit Undertaker with two more unprotected chair shots to the head. Ugh. Edge put Taker's head on a chair and grabbed another chair, but Taker nailed Edge with a lowblow as Edge was about to hit him.
Undertaker chokeslammed Edge off the ring apron onto a ladder setup outside the ring from the ring apron to the barrier. As Taker started climbing the ladder to win the match, Edge's jobber friends Ryder and Hawkins hit the ring and started attacking the Undertaker. They set the Undertaker on a table, then put another table on top of him. Hawkins went to the top, but Undertaker got up and chokeslammed Hawkins from the top rope to a table setup outside the ring. The then chokeslammed Ryder through another table outside of the ring. While this was happening, Edge made his way back up into the ring and hit a spear on the Undertaker, knocking him out of the ring.
Edge setup two more tables on top of each other and then started climbing the ladder and Taker got back in the ring. He then caught Edge on top of the ladder and gave him a last ride through the two tables that Edge had just placed on top of each other. Undertaker then started climbing the ladder but La Familia hit the ring and started attacking the Undertaker. They went to hit a conchairto but missed, and Taker took them both out with chair shots.
Taker then started to climb the ladder again and got near the top when Edge got up and pushed the ladder, and the Undertaker flew over the top outside of the ring onto the tables that were setup earlier. Edge then climbed the ladder and got the belt, winning the World Heavyweight Championship again. Great match to end a strong show.
Winner and new World Heavyweight Champion: Edge
Vickie Guerrero came out as Edge left back to the ring and congratulated Edge. All the heels left together and Undertaker was shown laying on the ground. He finally was able to get back to his feet and slowly walked to the back in silence. Michael Cole said that the career of the Undertaker is dead but his legacy lives on. It's kinda reminiscent of when Steve Austin was fired a long time ago after losing the handicap match to Kane and The Undertaker, where the crowd seems to be half buying it. The Undertaker gave one last look at the crowd at the top of the ramp before heading to the back as the show came to a close.
