Big Update On The Sandman; Denied Bail, In Jail & More
James "The Sandman" Fullington spent his fourth straight night in a Yonkers jail last night after he was denied bail by Yonkers City Court Judge Thomas Daly yesterday due to two previous felony convictions in his home state of Pennsylvania.
The Sandman's son Tyler and daughter Kelly were in the courtroom during yesterday's hearing where Judge Daly said that he can't set bail because his rap sheet showed two prior serious convictions out of state. Daly said he did not have jurisdiction to set bail.
Outside the courtroom, Sandman's attorney, John R. Lewis said the two convictions were for burglaries to which Sandman pleaded guilty in 1983 when he was 20. "It's a shame," Lewis said. "He was a kid." Lewis told Judge Daly in the court hearing that the Sandman would go to the Westchester County Courthouse in White Plains today to have a higher court set bail.
Judge Daly issued an order of protection barring Sandman from any contact La Lanterna restaurant owner Ralph Tarone. He also issued a second order of protection demanding that Sandman to stay away from the restaurant.
Sandman's daughter Kelly rushed out of the courtroom in tears on Wednesday before the hearing was over. She and her brother declined to speak to reporters. Sandman had his handcuffs temporarily removed so he could sign the orders of protection.
