How Punk Found Out About Draft Move, Backstage Draft Update
Seventeen WWE wrestlers changed brands during the Supplemental Draft, and three weeks in, eight of them still have yet to debut on television on their new brand. The yet-to-debut list includes Carlito, Maria, Big Daddy V, Trevor Murdoch (who was of course released two weeks ago) and DH Smith on SmackDown; Deuce and Chuck Palumbo on Raw; and Super Crazy on ECW.
The Ottawa Sun has an article on WWE World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk. He told The Ottawa Sun that he had no idea he was moving to Raw until his name was called during the WWE Draft. "I didn't find out until everybody else did," Punk said. "I was standing there with Victoria, Mike Knox and Big Show. I think I was reading the nutritional value in a can of Pepsi when my name came up. Everybody was yelling: "Go! Go!" Punk also commented on his recent World Heavyweight Championship win. "It's pretty amazing. I've been a wrestling fan my entire life. To me, world champions are guys like Ric Flair, Dusty Rhodes, Ricky Steamboat, and Rick Rude," Punk said. "I feel validated and vindicated. All the birthday parties, graduations, weddings, funerals ... everything I ever missed. Now, I'm the champion. I've always believed this would happen. I'm not trying to be cocky, but it was something I was born to be."
