WWE.com Traffic Continues To Decline - Full Details Inside
During the month of May, WWE.com drew a total 14.2 million unique visitors throughout the month, the site's lowest figure since at least 2005 (WWE Corporate's current business reports only show data dating back to 2006, and the next lowest figure during this time is 15.5 million unique visitors). They specifically created the Industry News section — which sources sites such as this one for industry-wide wrestling news and acknowledges the existence of non-WWE promotions & wrestlers — to help turn around declining traffic (which had been sliding with each passing month since Q2 last year), but it would appear that this feature, as well as the WWE "Fan Nation" social network service, has had little to no effect on traffic considering that its down.
At WWE's conference call to investors for their first quarter earnings report back in May, they were asked about website traffic being down. One of the corporate heads made some sort of wacky statement saying that the wrestling sites (such as this site) were existing because of WWE, and they were now diverting that traffic back to WWE.com.
WWE.com managed to garner 17 million site visitors for the month of June (the site's best number since last summer), but that increased figure can be attributed to the sign-ups from the Million Dollar giveaway, so July will be the key month.
During the month of May, the WWE Shop website garnered 645 orders per day, down from 900 per day in April.
