Austin/Cyber Sunday Update, MyNetworkTV/SD!, OVW, & More
As noted earlier this morning, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin is advertised as making a "special guest appearance" at the WWE Cyber Sunday pay-per-view on Sunday, October 26, 2008. The show will be taking place at the U.S. Airways Arena in Phoenix. Austin appeared at last year's Cyber Sunday pay-per-view in a special guest referee role for the the World Heavyweight Championship match between champion Batista and Undertaker. Also, the U.S. Airways Arena site has the ticket sale date messed up. They're listing the sale date for September 23. According to WWE.com and last night's edition of ECW, tickets actually go on sale this Saturday on August 23rd at 10:00 a.m.
The official website of myNetworkTV has set up a section for SmackDown, which premieres on the network on Friday, October 3rd at 8/7c. The site has put up Superstar profiles on practically everyone on SmackDown, including the likes of Ranjin Singh, DH Smith and Kenny Dykstra.
Ohio Valley Wrestling television announcer Kenny Bolin recently did an audio rant on Jim Cornette, which has upset some of his fans to say the least. You can listen to Bolin's rant on Cornette at FanSlamWrestling.com.
At his family's discretion, wrestling legend Killer Kowalski was removed from life support on Monday in Whidden Memorial Hospital in Everett, Massachusetts, reports SLAM! Wrestling. However, the family is still holding out hope that Kowalski gets better. Kowalski's brother Stan Spulnik said Tuesday tonight: "He's off life support. There's not much you can say. It's more or less waiting." Also, Spulnik is "a little annoyed" that his youngest son, Mark, who lives in Australia, posted a blog (walterkowalski.blogspot.com) about his uncle's death, who has not passed away.
