MMA Update: Rampage Speaks, Tito To Affliction & Lesnar News
FightLine.com has posted the first public comments from Quinton "Rampage" Jackson since his arrest on July 15th. Speaking at the UFC 87 press conference to Kevin Iole of Yahoo! Sports, Jackson said "I was hurt by some personal problems I had. It caused me not to eat and not to sleep. Emotional, yeah."
"I don't want to get into trouble with anybody," he said. "I love all these guys in the UFC. They've been great in supporting me. I'm happy to be out here and be a regular person again."
Meanwhile, FightLine.com also is reporting that Tito Ortiz has confirmed signing with Affliction, although Affliction has yet to confirm the signing. In an interview with SI.com, Ortiz had this to say: "I'm going to a company that's going to take care of me, a company that's going to respect me, a company that's going to put me in the forefront and make me the ambassador that I've always been. I think Mr. Trump respects me at that value to get it. My heart's not with the UFC anymore because of how bad they treated me. They don't respect me and they don't see me as a businessman. All they think is that I'm a punk fighter that's going to fold, and I've already proven that I'm not going to fold to anything by not resigning with them."
Brock Lesnar is gearing up for his second UFC fight tomorrow against Heath Herring. Lesnar is coming off a loss to Frank Mir earlier this year and is hoping to avenge that loss. Lesnar recently spoke with ProMMARadio.com about Heath Herring and said "I don't feel threatened by him at all. I really don't. Supposedly he's coming in heavier and in better condition, but we've all heard that before. He's not a good wrestler at all."
