WWE Releases Second Quarter Results & Declares Stock Dividend

– The Associated Press reports that World Wrestling Entertainment Inc. declared on Monday a regular quarterly dividend of 36 cents per share on its Class A shares of common stock. The company expects to pay the dividend Sept. 25 to stockholders on Sept. 15. WWE owner Vince McMahon's family has waived 12 cents per share of the dividends. Class A and Class B shares owned by the family will instead receive dividends of 24 cents per share.

– WWE released its second quarter financial numbers this morning and reported a net income of $7 million or 10 cents per share. This figure is below the 12 cents per share that Wall Street analysts predicted yesterday, which sent WWE stock down over 7% on Tuesday morning.

In a press release that accompanied the information, Linda McMahon stated, "The Company made important progress in terms of its fundamental operating objectives. We achieved a significant increase in revenue from our international operations, continued the strong growth of our live event, licensing and home video sales, and maintained improved trends in our pay-per-view business."

The second quarter financial report can be viewed online at WWE's corporate website.

– WWE will hold its Q2 2008 Earnings Conference Call today at 11am ET.
