Backstage Freddie Prinze Jr/WWE Update, WWE Kidnapping Angle, Edge/UFC

? WWE Superstar Edge was in the front row for the 9/17 UFC show in Omaha, Nebraska but wasn't shown or mentioned on TV. Names like Edge, Gregory Helms and JBL have attended MMA events recently but haven't been mentioned while guys like The Rock, Kurt Angle, Batista, Steve Austin and The Undertaker have received some attention. Steve Austin received a huge pop from the crowd at the show in February and most of the other guys have been cheered by the MMA crowd with the exception of Batista, who was booed more than probably any other celebrity at the show in Columbus.

? Freddie Prinze, Jr. is still working with WWE on the creative team and is working close to the same schedule as everyone else does, so there are people who are surprised he's stuck around. Everyone is said to be comfortable working with him and the feeling is he's a good friend to have for life outside of pro wrestling. Prinze comes up with 10 segments for SmackDown, as does Christopher DeJosephs and John Carle. Michael Hayes works with them and then decides which segments get pitched to Vince McMahon for TV. SmackDown is under more pressure than ECW and RAW right now to have everything hot when the show changes over to MyNetworkTV and it's a must that they start off on a good foot with the new network. Michael Hayes is still on good behavior and is said to be dealing well with the stress.

? Regarding the Festus & Jesse wrestler kidnapping angle where the two come out as moving men, it's obviously being done due to SmackDown's move from The CW to myNetworkTV. WWE is prohibited from mentioning myNetworkTV on the show or during commercials, except to say check your local listings. So WWE's trying to get around it by having Jesse & Festus wear shirts that say "MyMoving Company."
