Loads More Reader Feedback On The New iMPACT! Video Game
An anonymous reader sent this in: Longtime reader, first time writer. I'm writing in response to "John Silva's" claim's of Gamestop supposed fraud regarding the game TNA Impact. Gamestop, is it's own distributor based out of Grapevine, Texas. It does not sell to private game companies as it's own private distributor. I'm a manager, and we get extra copies of games based on pre-ordered reservations. The amount we got extra for Impact was 2 for every one reserved. We have been hyping the game with in-store footage and have been pre-ordering the game for months. I do believe that TNA may be trying to cater to Gamestop's pre-order efforts to generate hype for the game, as there was actually a sales contest with the top winner in the company going to a PPV of their choice. If you pre-order a game from Gamestop, you get a copy and more of that game is sent to that store. Target and Wal-mart, however, do not do reserves for most games. This is in no way illegal as distribution for games is paid for by corporate marketing. Believe me on this, as I didn't hear it from "a friend" and actually work for Gamestop as a manager and actually work in that industry.
We also received the other feedback on the game as well:
Grim sent this in: Hey, I wanted to make a few notes about the TNA video game. I work at a Gamestop, and since the game has released we've had quite a few copies returned as defective. I don't know if we got a single bad run, or if this is a major issue, but I've gotten a look at a few of the brand new discs and all of them have discolorations and very light circular scratches right out of the shrink-wrap. Second, the game is apparently awful. Everyone I've talked to who played it said that while it looks pretty good, it's very glitchy, the storyline is Russo-level ridiculous, and it lacks the variety of wrestlers or match types everyone was hoping for.
Adil sent this in: I was searching the TNA game on Wednesday in North Jersey. I went to Target, Best Buy, Gamestop, Software Etc, and Willow Brook Mall – none of the stores had it. I ended up calling the Gamestop in Woodbridge Mall and they had it so I picked it up. And I paid for the Wii version and I was told 9/16 is the date it comes out.
Andrew sent this in: Just read the report on the idea that TNA/Midway are holding back copies to make their sales look better. Not sure if this is relevant but one of my good friends is a store manager at a blockbuster and he called me last night os ay they got in the TNA game but if I wanted to play it he'd hold it for me as they only got in 1 copy for rent. I use to work at a blockbuster and this seems weird to me. TNA didn't look like it was a small title and even small titles usually get at least 2-3 copies.
Mike Griffin sent this in: Hey there, one very interesting note from the UK. Over here, some of the distributors are getting MORE than they asked or were promised. What is even weirder is the fact that quite a large amount appear to be the NTSC code that you guys recieve rather than the PAL code than Europe reiceves. Could that explain a lot of the shortages?
Jason sent this in: I was just going to buy the Impact game on a whim, but after traveling almost 50 miles around southwestern Iowa, I could not find it anywhere. Then, I checked a couple online retailers who emailed me a backordered message after I placed my order. Needless to say, I later cancelled the orders. Farewell TNA, you can't even market your first video game correctly.
Dave in the UK sent this in: Just to let you know, I work for the big blue over here and the TNA game came out in this country today. We sold out of PS3 and only have 2 left on the 360. Mind you I've been selling it by word of mouth for sometime now.
