Tons Of Backstage News & Opinions From RAW Last Night
Some of these bits are just opinions. You've been warned so continue reading if you please.
After Candice Michelle came to the ring and sat in the chair in front of the announcers table, did anyone notice Jerry Lawler in the background silently talking to Cole? It appeared as though someone said something in the headset which got both Cole and Lawler laughing. Lawler was moving his hands and making facial expressions to Cole. That was hilarious as Lawler obviously had absolutely no clue they were being shown on camera.
As noted earlier here on the site, CM Punk was not at the show.
Who says WWE doesn't read this website or listen to my weekly radio show? The Jamie Noble-Olive Garden reference on RAW was obviously a jab at former ECW champion Justin Credible. We reported that Credible was now working as a breadstick baker at the Olive Garden last week exclusively on WZR Radio.
The WWE Sign Guy (red hat and all) was in the front row of RAW.
Did anyone notice that Todd Grisham towered over Rey Mysterio during that backstage segment. I guess I never noticed how short Rey really is.
Didn't Kane say he sent Rey Mysterio 'to hell' several weeks ago? But wait, now Kane left him in a parking lot, and Rey had to take time off!?!? Ohhh how plans constantly change! This storyline was changed due to the John Cena injury as Rey was never set to be a part of the Scramble match at Unforgiven. He was brought back early due to that unexpected injury.
The Miz and John Morrison cut a promo during the commercial break before their match. Ted DiBiase, Afa, and Cody Rhodes did the same after Randy Orton's pimp slap. Expect them on WWE.com shortly.
I'm not sure where they are going with the Kane storyline but it would certainly appear that they are going to have him wear the mask again. How do you take a mask off a guy, then put it back on him like it was never taken off. That's really dumb booking but that's just one mans opinion.
It appears that Randy Orton is back for good and will be at RAW each week from this point forward. I'm not sure of that just yet though. More later this week. He obviously won't be wrestling for several months more but they need him now more than ever with all the recent injuries. Randy had mic problems last night for those who missed it. He's also battling a cold.
Afa Jr. is now going by the name of 'Manu'. Afa is The Rock's real-life cousin for those unaware. He also failed a WWE drug test by trying to use a fake penis.
This has got to be the first time that WWE is really pushing the WrestleMania ticket on-sale date. There used to be a time where 'Mania would sell out in one day or several days and there was no advertising needed. There also used to be a time where WWE house shows sold out. We're now down to around 3,500 fans a night in 15,000+ seat arenas. Ohhh how the times changed.
