Breaking News: Big UFC 91 Fight Cancelled + Fighter Fired
? FightLine.com is reporting that Amir Sadollah, the winner of last season's Ultimate Fighter, is out of Saturday night's UFC fight with Nick Catone due to a leg infection. An attempt to get a new opponent for Catone on short notice was unsuccessful, so the match is off the card. Dustin Hazelett vs. Tamdan McCrory, scheduled as a prelim, has been moved to the live show.
? FightLine.com is also reporting that the UFC has sent top ten heavyweight contender Fabricio Werdum packing after he suffered a knockout loss to little known Junior Dos Santos at UFC 90 two weeks ago. The Chute Boxe fighter was promised a title shot if would have been able to walk away victorious, now he finds himself unemployed. The reason for his exit from the world's largest MMA organization seems to circle around the inability of both parties to successfully renegotiate his contract. The UFC was looking to cut Werdum's pay, as he has now posted a meger 2-2 record for the promotion. Werdum wasn't prepared to do that. Werdum is already in negotiations with other MMA promotions. If he is still interested in competing in the US, he would most likely sign with Affliction Entertainment, as their non-exclusive contracts would allow the fighter to compete one of Japan's promotions as well.
? As noted earlier on FightLine.com, there has been some talk about EliteXC putting on more events next year, considering they are in talks about filing bankruptcy. As of now, there are no events scheduled, and it would not be made possible unless an agreement could be met between Showtime and EliteXC regarding the debt that Elite owes Showtime. Currently, all the Elite fighters are currently waiting it out the process of getting free until there contracts are fully done, and released, something should come out of this even more next week.
