'The Wrestler' Nominated For Two Academy Awards

After winning 2 Golden Globe awards earlier this month, Darren Aronofsky's film "The Wrestler" is now in contention for the most prestigeous prize in Hollywood – the Academy Award. The Wrestler garnered two Oscar nominations on Thursday morning for its lead actor and actress.

Mickey Rourke, who played Randy "The Ram" Robinson, is nominated Best Actor and is up against Richard Jenkins ("The Visitor), Frank Langella ("Frost/Nixon"), Sean Penn ("Milk") and Brad Pitt ("The Curious Case of Benjamin Button").

Co-star Marisa Tomei, who played Robinson's stripper girlfriend, was nominated for Best supporting actress. Her competition includes Amy Adams ("Doubt"), Penelope Cruz ("Vicky Cristina Barcelona), Viola Davis ("Doubt") and Taraji P. Henson ("The Curious Case of Benjamin Button").

Surprisingly, Bruce Springsteen's song "The Wrestler" was not nominated in the original song category, despite the fact that it won the Golden Globe in the same category.
