WWE Vs. Denver Nuggets Just Won't End, HOFer Released
While WWE and the Nuggets continue their war of words, the NBA won the ratings war against WWE last week. The top seven highest rated programs on cable last week were NBA Playoff games, with RAW coming in at #8 and #9. The Nuggets/Mavericks games on Monday and Wednesday finished #5 and #7.
WWE Hall of Famer and former NFL Star William "Refrigerator" Perry has been released from the hospital after a month-long stay. He was treated for Guillain-Barre Syndrome. The AP has a story up on this so expect it to be featured on lots of sites in the coming days.
In an article in today's Denver Post, Vince McMahon says that WWE was in talks with the Pepsi Center to move RAW to Sunday, but that they decided not to because Kroenke Sports would "pay only incremental costs incurred from the date change and wanted to control WWE's public comments about the conflict." "When they say to us that we can't even come to a deal of any kind unless you agree to a joint press release, come on," McMahon said. "They're entitled to say and do whatever they want to do, and so is my organization."
As noted earlier, due to having to reschedule their Colorado shows due to the Pepsi Center fiasco, WWE has now canceled their August 7th – 9th shows in Saskatoon, Kamloops, and Kelowna. The RAW house shows that weekend in Regina and Medicine Hats have now been changed to Smackdown shows.
Sports Illustrated has an article up stating that WWE turned on Colorado fans just for publicity.
