JBL Shoots Down TNA Rumors, Scotty 2 Hotty's WWE Return?
Jose Canseco was looking for his first win in a boxing ring having gone 0-2-1 in his first three attempts. He was to have faced off against Bill "El Wingador" Simmons, the former chicken wing eating champion tonight in Philly but due to his ailing father, was forced to withdraw. He lost last year to former Philadelphia Eagle Vai Sikahema, and finished with a majority draw against one-time child star Danny Bonaduce of "The Partridge Family" in January. Taking his place tonight in the three, 1-minute round exhibition bout will be none other than Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake! That's right, "Beefcake Barber" (as Zeus liked to call him), will now take on Simmons.
Scotty 2 Hotty will be signing autographs at the Lake County Fairgrounds in Eustis, Florida on July 25th, 2009 prior to the Florida Championship Wrestling event. The FCW website has Scotty listed as a "WWE Superstar", not as a former WWE superstar or a WWE legend. (Thanks to Devin Cutting)
JBL posted the folloiwng on his Twitter account regarding our story that he had been in talks with TNA: "No talks of TNA and no regrets on my career – internet rumors are completely bogus," JBL wrote. "I am happy playing golf and being retired." Note from Ryan Clark: I reported earlier today that he has had talks with TNA about working with the company in some form. Nothing had materialized as of last word. I still stand by that statement.
