Truth On WWE RAW Rumor, Wrestling is Fake?

– With media reports discussing Jerry Springer's presence in Stamford, Connecticut, there are rumors that Springer is in talks to host an upcoming episode of RAW. While the idea of Springer hosting RAW cannot categorically be ruled out–his appeal, after all, is demographically similar to that of potential hosts Bob Barker and Al Sharpton–a meeting with WWE is not the reason Springer is in the region. Rather, the long-running talk show host is in town to tape episodes of his syndicated show at Stamford's Rich Forum, to where the program relocated after leaving the Chicago area.

– Time Magazine's website team appears way behind the times regarding the world of pro wrestling. In an article about the "Top 10 Worst Corporate Name Changes" (in response to news that Radio Shack will drop the Radio from its name), Time.com lists the WWF-to-WWE switch as number seven. Noting Linda McMahon's explanation that the "E" better emphasizes the company's entertainment value, the author writes, "The comment didn't do much to stamp out persistent rumors that the fights are rigged ? but hey, at least she was honest."
