BJ Penn successfully defended his UFC light heavyweight championship against Kenny Florian, defeating Florian via submission to retain his title.

Anderson Silva went on to show why he may be the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world, destroying former UFC light heavyweight champion Forrest Griffin in the first round. Griffin's former rival, Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, ripped Griffin after the fight, and called him a loser.
