WWE Releases Expected Shortly, Richie Steamboat Signs With WWE

– WWE has signed Richie Steamboat, son of WWE Hall of Famer Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat, to a developmental contract. The son of the former NWA World Heavyweight Champion will be heading to Florida Championship Wrestling shortly to begin his progress towards WWE stardom. Over the past two years, the elder Steamboat has been sending his son to areas all over the world to learn the art of wrestling including Pro Wrestling NOAH in Japan, World Wrestling Council in Puerto Rico and Harley Race's wrestling academy in Eldon, Missouri. Richie was originally trained by longtime preliminary wrestler George South.
– World Wrestling Entertainment is expected to release several talents from the main roster early next year to go along with the changes being made to the SmackDown and ECW brands.
