Brock Lesnar's Next Title Defense Set After UFC 111
Shane Carwin took a giant step towards finally getting his long-awaited fight with UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar, as he defeated Frank Mir at UFC 111 to become the new UFC Interim Heavyweight Champion.
Lesnar entered the cage after the bout to congratulate Carwin. Carwin recently admitted in an interview with FightLine.com that his bout with Mir tonight wasn't for the real championship, a point that Lesnar made sure to reiterate.
"It was a good fight, but he's wearing a belt that's a make-believe belt," Lesnar noted to Carwin. "It was a good fight Shane, but that's the wrong belt you're wearing. I've got the championship belt. That's the bottom line baby."
Carwin was quick to agree with Lesnar, stating, "I couldn't agree more baby, that's why I'm coming after it."
Carwin and Lesnar will likely battle for the UFC Heavyweight Championship this summer.
