MICKIE JAMES ON THE STRATEGY ROOM:

Mickie James finished her Fox News related appearances on Friday morning on the Strategy Room which streams on FoxNews.com. Mickie says that she has been wrestling for eleven years. She says that she was a fan growing up watching it with her dad. She would drop elbows on her little brother when she was younger. She fell into the business. She went to a wrestling school in Washington D.C. She then went to dojos and training camps as well as going to tryouts. She got a job in wrestling in 2002 but did not debut on television until 2005. Mickie said that everyone has different paths to wrestling. Mickie mentioned that some came to wrestling from modeling. Mickie said that she was involved in equestrian competitions as a child.

Mickie says that she had been wrestling a little, but her focus is now on music. Mickie talked about how she always sang as a child and she dreamed of being a singer. She mentioned that it is hard to have a personal life when you are on the road two hundred fifty days a year. She started writing poetry and then tried to put them to melodies. Mickie wanted to put out a single or EP just to say that she had done it. Then the journey happened and doors started to open. Mickie was told that she had a unique sound for Nashville and could do something. She was asked why she was holding back with the music when she didn't hold back anywhere else.

Mickie said that the album took about a year to put it together. Mickie said that she wrote three songs on the album. She mentioned that there are a number of great songwriters in Nashville. Mickie said that Shania Twain and Tim McGraw are inspirations. Mickie said that she grew up listening to country music. She said that her first concert was Billy Ray Cyrus. Mickie also said that she is a fan of Mary J. Blige.

Mickie said that it is a different type of performing in music compared to wrestling. On the stage, you have the microphone and your band so it is more personal and emotional than wrestling.

Mickie then performed two songs from her album Strangers and Angels.

MICKIE JAMES ON FOX & FRIENDS:

Mickie joined the hosts in studio. They started off by saying that Mickie was arguably the greatest woman wrestler in the history of the WWE, but her biggest passion was country music. They mentioned that Mickie was a five time champion. They mentioned the album Strangers and Angels.

Mickie said that she loves wrestling but she felt that she had reached the pinnacle of wrestling. She said that she still loves it but she spent eleven years wrestling and wanted to try something new. Music is something that she wanted to do since she was a young girl.

One of the hosts mentioned that she has talked to a number of people who have been successful in one field and are able to reinvent themselves in another field. Mickie said that it is exciting because if you get to the top in your business trying to raise the bar, there is only so far you can go. Mickie said that she wanted to branch out and do something that she always wanted to do. She said it is like opening a whole new chapter and a brand new journey to be starting over.

They mentioned that Mickie's influences were Willie Nelson and Tim McGraw. Mickie said that her step-father was a huge country fan and is how she got into country music. Mickie mentioned that she grew up on a horse farm and her step-father listened to the older country music. Mickie talked about working with Dolly Parton's producer.

Mickie was asked if any of the songs had a connection to wrestling and she said that there is one song, but she cannot mention it on television. She said that it is a bonus track that is a bit rough and rowdy.

MICKIE JAMES ON RED EYE:

Mickie was interviewed by Jill Dobson. She mentioned that Mickie is known as a WWE Superstar, but is transitioning into the world of country music. She mentioned Mickie's new album Strangers and Angels. Jill joked that she would like to see Mickie perform a wrestling move and permanently injure one of the panelists.

She was asked what influenced her to do a country album and she said that she has been a fan her entire life. Mickie also mentioned that she grew up on a horse farm. Country music has been an influence on her life and Mickie mentioned that she was on the road two hundred fifty days a year. Going from town to town, the radio was your friend. Mickie talked about how she played the violin for five years, but dropped it when she started with wrestling.

Jill asked Mickie about the link between the worlds of country music and professional wrestling. She says that there are parallels between the two. Mickie talked about spending time away from your family because of the travel. Mickie also mentioned being able to perform in front of millions of fans all over the world and how it is thrilling. Mickie said that in wrestling you are driven by the raw emotion and passion. In the world of music, you are very vulnerable being on the stage with just a microphone and band.

Mickie was asked if you would be more vulnerable in a wrestling ring, but Mickie said that she knows what she is doing in the ring.

Jill mentioned that Dolly Parton's producer worked on this album and she asked Mickie if there are any similarities. Mickie says that there weren't many similarities, but she was blessed with an amazing producer. Mickie said that there is only one Dolly. Mickie said that Dolly does it all with the showmanship, being a performer, a singer, and an actress. Mickie calls Dolly a diva.

Jill then asked Mickie about the musicians who she most wants to be like or who Mickie listens to and Mickie said that listens to all types of country music. She says that she doesn't want to be like anybody and just be herself. She doesn't want to sound like anyone else and be compared to someone else. Mickie said that it is an honor to be compared to others, but she wants to create her own path and sound.

Mickie talked about a song that she wrote that she got the idea for as she was driving to the gym and stopped on the side of the road. She said that it was the fifth or sixth song that she wrote and at that point she figured that it was something that she needed to do. Then she went to Nashville to rewrite the song.
