– Legendary referee Joe Higuchi passed away yesterday at the age of 81, he had been battling cancer. Higuchi was the lead referee in All Japan from 1972 through 1990, and due to the fact that he spoke English, he was able to help the foreign talent get around and show them where to go and have a fun time. During the 1970s, Higuchi was widely regarded as the best referee in the business, working in Japan, and also in the US in big matches. On behalf of everyone here on the website, I would like to extend my condolences to the family, friends and fans of Mr. Higuchi.
