WWE House Show Results (12.28.2010) From Wilkes Barre, PA - Cena Injured

Thanks to WrestlingINC.com reader Daniel Smeriglio for sending in these results from last night's WWE house show in Wilkes Barre, PA.

Very loud crowd! If I were to guess, I'd say there were about 6000-7000 people attending which is a high number considering the arena holds about ten, and it is also important to note that there were more here for tonight's show than the SmackDown! taping a few months ago! Go figure!

Show started at 7pm with Justin Roberts welcoming us and the national anthem played after he announced the 15 man battle royal with the winner facing Daniel Bryan later in the night. Wrestlers involved included: Mark Henry, Husky Harris, Heath Slater, David Otunga, Michael McGillicutty, Justin Gabriel, Zack Ryder, Primo, David Hart Smith, Tyson Kid, Alex Riley, Yoshi Tatsu, William Regal, Kozlov and one other participant (the last participant escapes me! I do apologize and even sitting ringside it was hard to see!)

Quick match. Definite crowd favorite was Mark Henry, about eight minutes in and the only remaining wrestlers were Alex Riley, Mark Henry and the Nexus! Mark Henry eliminated Riley (or so we thought) and then took out all of Nexus and while attempting to eliminate Husky Harris, Riley managed to roll back in after being hung over the top and then hid outside, ran in and eliminated both Henry and Harris.

Winner: Alex Riley

WWE Tag Team Championship: Kozlov and Santino Marella vs Justin Gabriel & Heath Slater

Good back and forth action and Heath Slater did an amazing job of generating heat. He drew some of the biggest heat of the night! Santino had the crowd going non-stop and actually put on a great wrestling performance. Kozlov took a beating for awhile and Santino got the crowd firmly behind Kozlov. The finish saw Santino come in with an array of moves including the Santino stunner. He then hit Gabriel with the Cobra for the win. Good match which ran about 12 minutes long.

Winners: Santino Marella and Kozlov

Next the GM sends a message to Justin Roberts via his cell announcing that Randy Orton will get his rematch with the Miz tonight. Roberts then introduced Gail Kim who did her WWE trivia to select a special guest time keeper for the upcoming match! So damn stupid and played out by now, but Gail is quite nice to see in person at least! Anyway the mind numbing question was "What is the name of the next Pay Per View"? And, of course, some little kid got it right...

David Hart Smith vs Tyson Kidd (With Jackson Andrews)

The kid rang the bell, yay! Anyway, decent match, but a piss poor reaction from the crowd! Seems like neither one could generate any decent heat. Solid back and forth action and Tyson performed well. While on the outside of the ring, Jackson Andrews delivered the oh so devastating clothesline on Smith who was then rolled in the ring and pinned by Kidd. Afterward Smith beat up Kidd and Andrews and ended with a decent pop finally while his music played.

Winner: Tyson Kidd

Justin Roberts announced the next divas match, and the special guest referee will be Eve Torres (who looks much better in person!)

Melina & Alicia Fox vs The Bella Twins

Before the match got underway the GM crap hit (Roberts must have one loud ass cellphone!) and called for — drum roll please — A DANCE OFF! Ugh, it never ends! Bellas, who like Alicia Fox were yet again dressed up like "Santas Helpers," did a decent display including a double reverse worm! But before they could finish, Melina and Fox attacked them. Actually a damn good wrestling match which was a welcomed change. Brie Bella rolled up Melina for the victory, such a weak ending to what was actually a good match. Obviously people haven't gotten the "Melina is a heel now" memo because she got one of the loudest pops of the night.

Winners: The Bella Twins

WWE Championship: The Miz (c) w/Alex Riley vs. Randy Orton

A little early to have this match. Anyway, Miz came out to good heat and continued his ongoing bashing of Wilkes Barre and claiming like on Raw that he is a legend and better than the rest, etc. Note: It was really hard to hear anyone on the mic, the PA was too damn loud! Anyway Orton came out and the two had a solid match mostly dominated by the Miz who actually looked strong, finally! Of course it ended with Riley interfering and distracting Orton who walked right into the skull crushing finale. At the end they both were beating Orton down and then Randy got up and threw Riley out and RKO'd Miz.

Winner: The Miz

Gail Kim reappears and throws out merchandise bundles to the crowd along with Roberts, followed by intermission.

NOTE: During this time referee Charles Robinson was doing the Ric Flair strut in the ring and playing it up for the crowd. Obviously not important but entertaining!

US Championship: Daniel Bryan (c) vs. Alex Riley

Alex Riley is back again! Still generating awesome heat, sadly a fairly quick match but Bryan was at least able to perform this time! He took Riley to school before making him tap to the LeBell lock.

Winner: Daniel Bryan

No DQ: King Sheamus vs. John Morrison

By far, the best match of the night! Sheamus took to the mic before the match telling everyone he is the king and we all should bow down, etc. He generated great heat and got everyone going.

Match was solid with lots of back and forth action. At one point, Morrison went for starship pain and heamus blocked it and Aorrison rolled outside where Sheamus pulled out a kendo stick from under the ring and started beating the hell out of him with it. Eventually Morrison got the stick and beat down Sheamus, who then got a chair and took that to Morrison. Like I said, a solid back and forth match and the crowd was hot from the beginning. Sheamus went for the high cross and there was a chair set up by the king in the middle of the ring. Morrison escaped the high cross and kicked Sheamus, who fell on the chair, and Morrison hit him with the knee to the head for the pin.

They announced that the main event was next and the cage music hit as they set it up.

Cage Match: John Cena vs. Wade Barrett

Cena got the absolute loudest pop of the night, hands down! Not one "Cena sucks" chant to be heard! Before the match, the GM sent a message stating if any member of Nexus interferes, then Barret will be suspended.

Match its self was pretty damn boring, to be honest. There were a lot of solid spots with Barret trying to escape and Cena blocking him on top of the cage, etc. After awhile, Barrett hit Cena with Wasteland and Cena kicked out. Cena then went for the AA, which Wade blocked and tried to escape yet again, which caused Cena to catch Barrett on top of the cage and he came down with him in a bulldog. After that move, Cena wasn't the same. Barrett kicked Cena and went to escape and spent about three minutes with one leg over the cage (which happened right in front of me), and even though he did a damn good job selling being beatdown, after awhile you could tell something was off. Finally Cena slowly hobbled up and climbed the turnbuckles, and only made it to the second rope and he began throwing weak punches. As clear as day I heard Barrett say to Cena, "I got this." Barrett flipped off the cage and Cena basically fell on him and applied the crossface for about ten seconds before Barret tapped.

Cena basically couldn't move his right leg and it was obvious that it was an on-the-spot ending. I also heard Justin Roberts say, "that's not good," then motioned to the referee to get the trainers from the back. While lying in the ring, everyone including Roberts was around Cena, who then finally stood up on his own but could barely stand. Cena motioned for a mic and said, "I think I hurt myself pretty bad and might be out for awhile, hope not, but that happens I guess." He thanked us all and said that he loves and respects us all and goodnight. It was apparent that Cena was sincerely struggling to not only stand, but to talk as well. He left the ring on his own slowly, but the trainers and the refs were right there in case he fell.

John Cena defeated Wade Barrett via submission.
