More On Undertaker Vs. Triple H At 'Mania 27, Your Thoughts
With The Undertaker scheduled to return to WWE on the 2/21/11 edition of RAW (the night after the Elimination Chamber PPV), speculation has been growing as to who he'll face at WrestleMania 27. 'Taker has been doing a lot of rehab on his surgically repaired shoulder in recent months. WWE is also confident he'll be able to work a match at 'Mania.
As noted earlier this week, The Wrestling Observer is reporting that sources have told the newsletter that several ideas for The Undertaker's role at WrestleMania have been scrapped. First and foremost, he's no longer expected to face Wade Barrett although that could change. The storyline does make sense as Barrett was the leader of Nexus when they destroyed 'Taker and put him out of action at the Survivor Series PPV. Also, Sting has not signed a WWE deal and Brock Lesnar was not given permission by the UFC to take part in the event. Neither of them are likely to be at WrestleMania.
One idea that has been thrown out includes some sort of match with Triple H, who is set to return in the coming weeks. As reported last month, this idea has been on the cards for some time now, but seems to have been forgotten by many. We can report that last week at the TV tapings, WWE creative discussed Triple H vs. The Undertaker in a Career vs. Streak match. Shawn Michaels would serve as the special guest referee. Keep in mind that original plans called for Triple H to face Sheamus at the pay-per-view.
Word is that WWE also wants to involve Shawn Michaels in some capacity, probably as a special guest referee as noted above. Shawn will not be working another match for WWE.
We hope to have much more on this early next week. Please stay tuned to the site for that report.
Also, of the wrestlers who have been rumored to face the Undertaker over the past few months – Triple H, Brock Lesnar, Sting and Wade Barrett (even though Barrett and Triple H are the most realistic) – which would you be the most excited for? Would any of the proposed matchups change your mind on this year's event? Let us know in our "Comments" section below.
