WWE RAW Results (5/9) - New #1 Contender, Cole/Lawler... Sound Off With Your Thoughts

RAW opens with Alberto Del Rio heading to the ring. Del Rio blamed him not being world champion due to Edge, and wondered why WWE wasted last week's show on The Rock. Del Rio said Cena may be champ, but no one is better than him and he should face John Cena. Cue Rey Mysterio's music.
Mysterio challenged Del Rio to a match tonight to determine the #1 contender. Del Rio started to respond, and the Miz's music hit and he headed to the ring with Alex Riley in tow.
Miz said he wanted the title shot, Del Rio told him he had his shot and now he needs to get to the back of the line. Miz blamed his misfortune on the referee and wants a rematch with Cena, and he said that Del Rio and Mysterio can fight each other in a "Taco Bell parking lot for all I care."
R-Truth came down to the ring to no entrance music. Truth talked about hospitalizing John Morrison and they showed his attack from last week. He said he wanted to do the same to everyone in the ring. Truth ripped everyone in the ring and said the only one who'll be facing that "lily white" John Cena is "me."
The GM chimed in and said three men deserved a shot at the title, so there will be a triple threat match between The Miz, Alberto Del Rio and Rey Mysterio. Truth got that crazy look in his eye and yelled, "AGAIN!" He said he was better than everyone in the ring, especially Mysterio. Mysterio said he agreed with the GM and Truth shouldn't be in the match, and then mocked Truth's catchphrase. Truth then left the ring going crazy. Another strong showing for Truth.
Miz then ripped Del Rio and Mysterio, and said the next WWE champion is..., Ricardo Rodriguez then interrupted and said "Alberto Del Rio!!" Riley attacked Del Rio, Rodriguez discarded of Riley, Miz took out Rodriguez, Del Rio took out Miz and then Mysterio took out Del Rio to be the last man standing in the ring.
They show Kharma attacking Maryse and sparing Kelly Kelly last week.
Kelly Kelly and Eve vs. The Bella Twins
The Bella Twins vs. Eve and Kelly Kelly is up now. Kelly rolled up Brie Bella to get the win. Cue Kharma's music, who makes her way to the ring while Eve and Kelly stand in the ring dumbfounded. The Bella Twins held hands and ran to the back and Kelly went outside the ring. Kharma then clotheslined Eve to the mat when Eve charged at her and then started to chase Kelly, who ran to the back. Kharma got back in the ring and hit the implant buster on Eve.
Kelly Kelly and Eve defeated The Bella Twins.
Kane and The Big Show are shown headed to the ring and we're off to commercial.
Mason Ryan (with CM Punk) vs. Kane (with The Big Show)
At one point, Punk interfered, and Show floored Punk. The rest of the Nexus hit the ring, but were taken out by Show and Kane. Ryan came back in the ring, only to be double chokeslammed by Show and Kane. Show and Kane then celebrated to end the segment.
Kane vs. Mason Ryan went to a no contest.
Santino Marella is in the ring. Vickie Guerrero gets on stage and introduces the "new and improved Dolph Ziggler."
Santino Marella vs. Dolph Ziggler
Ziggler dominated the opening moments of the match. Marella was able to gain the advantage and motioned for the cobra, only to be nailed by a dropkick by Ziggler. Ziggler went on to dominate Marella and get the clean pin.
Dolph Ziggler pinned Santino Marella.
They did a SD! rewind showing Christian losing the World Heavyweight Championship to Randy Orton.
R-Truth is shown walking in the back talking to himself. He's approached for an interview. Truth said he's going to be taken seriously.
Cena is then shown pumping fists with Zach Ryder before heading to the ring.
Back from commercial, and the Miz is pacing backstage with Alex Riley. Riley told Miz that he thought he was doing the right thing last week and it wasn't his fault that the ref reversed his decision. Miz asked how stupid that Riley could be and berated him, telling him that he was stupid. Riley continued to apologize, and Miz wondered why he allows Riley to be in his presence. Riley said he'll make i up to Miz, and said to "watch this."
Riley then is walking around backstage and then heads to the ring. Riley takes the mic and says that Miz is the only person he cares about, and plans to prove it by challenging John Cena to a match. Riley continues to call out Cena and throws the mic to the ramp. Cena's music hits and it's on.
John Cena vs. Alex Riley
Cena is able to hit the AA on Riley at the end of the match as Miz comes to the ramp. Cena, while looking at Miz, hits Riley with the AA again. Cena then locks in the STF, and Riley quickly taps. Cena continued to stare down Miz and celebrated in the ring.
John Cena defeated Alex Riley with the STF.
Michael Cole is in the ring and says that after beating Jerry Lawler twice, he has decided to retire from active competition. Lawler interrupts and gets in the ring, and Cole reminds Lawler that he'll be fired if he touches him. Lawler says he knows that, and proceeds to show the Rock beating up Cole last week. Lawler then says that if Cole were to beat him in another match, he would personally induct Cole into the HOF and give him his HOF ring. Cole declined, and left the ring back to the Cole Mine. Cole then said that Lawler just had to steal his spotlight. Cole then goes on to rip Tennessee fans and says that he won't change his mind. Cole talked about watching him beating Lawler at 'Mania with his mother for Mother's Day and said that there is nothing better in this world then spending the day with your mother, then he asked Lawler what he did for Mother's Day. Cole then noted that Lawler's mother passed away in Feb. Lawler charged to Cole in the pod, but was attacked from behind by Jack Swagger. Cut to commercial.
US Championship
Jack Swagger vs. Kofi Kingston
Good match. Swagger spent a big part of the match working over Kofi's ankle. At the end of the match, Jerry Lawler came to the ramp and distracted Swagger, allowing Kofi to hit TIP and get the win.
Kofi Kingston defeated Jack Swagger via pinfall.
Lawler then threw Swagger over the barricade. He proceeded to go to Cole's pod and got ahold of Cole's tie and pulled on it while ramming Cole's face in the pod. Lawler continued to pull on Cole's tie, choking him out until officials broke it up. Swagger came back and attended to Cole. Swager said that since Lawler touched Cole, he's fired. Lawler said he never touched Cole, just his tie. Swagger said that on behalf of Michael Cole, he accepts the match. Lawler celebrated at ringside while Cole was upset heading to the back with Swagger.
They show clips of "That's What I Am" at the Santa Barbara film festival.
#1 Contender's Triple Threat Match
Rey Mysterio vs. Alberto Del Rio vs. The Miz
Another good match. The finish saw Miz outside of the ring while Del Rio and Mysterio battled in the ring. Alex Riley made his way to ringside, but was bumped off the apron. Mysterio hit a splash on Del Rio, but Riley pulled him off. Miz got back in the ring and rolled up Mysterio to get the win and become the #1 contender.
The Miz defeated Rey Mysterio and Alberto Del Rio in a triple threat match to become the #1 contender.
As Miz and Riley made their way to the back, Cena's music hit and he came to the top of the stage. Cena said he's congratulating Miz, and said that he chose his match for Extreme Rules. He said there will be on pinfalls, count outs or submissions. He said that they will square off in an "I Quit" match at Over The Limit.
Back in the ring, R-Truth charged in and attacked Mysterio as the show went off the air.
