UFC Cuts Nate Marquardt A Day Before He Was To Headline Card On Versus

UFC President Dana White announced earlier today on his Twitter account that Nate Marquardt has been cut from the organization following his withdrawal from his headlining bout with Rick Story at tomorrow's UFC Live On Versus 4 event.

Marquardt was pulled from his fight with Story after not being medically cleared to fight. The reason for Marquardt failing to receive medical clearance is unknown, however it was serious enough for the organization to cut ties with the former top middleweight contender.

"I'm sure you heard that Nate Marquardt is out, it's true," White stated earlier today in a video on his Twitter account. "He failed his medicals. Not only is he out of this fight and out of the main event on Versus, he will no longer be with the UFC."

Marquardt has long been one of the world's top middleweights, and decided to make the drop to welterweight at the urging of his friend and teammate Georges St-Pierre. Now he finds himself terminated from the world's premiere mixed-martial arts organization.

Charlie Brenneman will fill in for "The Great" to face Story at tomorrow's event. Brenneman was originally slated to meet T.J. Grant on the preliminary card, however Grant was forced to withdraw earlier this week due to an unknown illness.
