Major Update: TNA Releases Matt Hardy

Following his DWI arrest from earlier this evening, TMZ is reporting that TNA has decided to part ways with Matt Hardy, who had only been with the organization for a little over seven months.

"TNA today released Impact Wrestling star Matt Hardy from its roster," a TNA representative told the site. "Hardy was already under suspension from the company."

Hardy was arrested in North Carolina this afternoon for suspicion of driving while intoxicated.

He was arrested and charged with DWI by a state highway patrol trooper after his 2009 Corvette ran off a road and hit a tree. The trooper stated that he saw signs of impairment, which led to the arrest. No other contraband was found in the vehicle.

Hardy was by himself and did not suffer any injuries. He submitted a blood test and was released at around 7 pm ET. The results of the blood test are pending.
