Update On Shane Helms' Arrest

As noted earlier, WRAL.com (Raleigh, Durham, Fayetteville, NC) posted a mugshot of Gregory Shane Helms and noted that the former WWE superstar was arrested on August 24th at 8:27AM ET for a DWI.

Helms took to his Twitter and noted that he was not arrested. Helms was actually charged and photographed for his DWI that occurred back on Thursday, May 5th 2011.

"Finally went and got photographed and processed for the charges stemming from my motorcycle accident," wrote Helms. "Quick and painless thankfully."

As we reported in May, police were investigating whether Helms was intoxicated at the time of his motorcycle crash that left him and his girlfriend, Karen, hospitalized with serious injuries.

A witness cited in a police report told TMZ.com that Helms and his girlfriend were riding home from a restaurant in Smithfield, North Carolina at approximately 9:15 p.m. when Helms went through a stop sign, lost control of the bike and "drove straight through the metal chain link fence."

The witness told officers that he was hanging out with Helms at the restaurant minutes before the crash and said he "was sure" Helms had been drinking.

Helms and his girlfriend were treated at an area hospital for multiple broken bones and other injuries. He posted a blog earlier this month concerning his health following the accident.

"My left foot, which I nearly lost (along with my life) in a motorcycle accident on May 5th of this year, and all 4 plates and 23 screws that now reside within it, is alive and on FIRE at the moment," Helms wrote.

"Being in pain every single second of every single day can wear a man, any man, down. Its mentally and physically draining and can easily tap into your spirit as well. It's easy in moments like this to feel sad and be overwhelmed as waves of depression rear their ugly head. It'd be easy to just take more meds and crawl back into bed. But at these times, I try to realize just how amazingly wonderful my life has been."
