Rhodes wrestled the match in his business attire and Morrison took the early advantage. Rhodes was knocked out of the ring and started walking to the back, but Morrison stopped him. Rhodes then hugged the ring post in order to get counted out, but Morrison kicked him and got him back in the ring. Morrison was met with a headbutt as he got back in the ring.

Rhodes continued on offense and dominated the next several minutes of the match. Rhodes locked in a figure four leglock, but Morrison was able to make the ropes. Rhodes dropped a pair of knees to the head. Morrison then charged Rhodes into a corner and fired away with punches. Morrison landed a paid of clotheslines and a kick and was able to secure a two count. He then went for Starship Pain, but Rhodes held onto Morrison's leg. Morrison then hit a Pele kick and went for another kick, but Rhodes moved out of the way and rolled Morrison up for a three count.
