Independent Wrestler Sentenced To 32 Years
Independent wrestler Andre Davis who was convicted of fourteen counts of felonious assault was sentenced today to 32 years in prison.
The HIV-infected wrestler was charged after having sex with women and not telling them he had HIV. He could have been sentenced up to over a hundred years in Ohio law.
Davis apologized for his actions and asked for the minimum sentence. He said he was suffering from sexual addiction at the time and didn't recognize what he did because of his depression due to his HIV status. He added that he hoped to become an activist to help educate people on the dangers as a way to atone. He said he also neglected his children because of being incarcerated.
He reportedly learned of his status while taking routine medical tests for a potential WWE contract. WWE allegedly were interested in hiring him to be a referee. When the story broke, wrestlers who worked with Davis where blood was involved went to get tested.
