John Cena Talks WWE's PG Environment, Would Prefer Something "Very Different"

As noted earlier, John Cena was interviewed recently by the Sports Illustrated Hot Clicks podcast. During the interview, he discussed WWE's PG climate. While Cena said understood the rating, he did mention that he admitted to wishing the program was "very different."

"I'm a 35-year-old adult. I wish our program was very different," Cena said. "But I'm not the one behind the program. The people that want to see our show — and I've seen this transition. I started in 2001-2002 and I slowly saw more families and more kids showing up. I was at the forefront of this. 'Hey, we need to switch the content.' It wasn't a frat party anymore.

"Families show up and we don't want to offend families," Cena continued. "When you go out and say to families that it's OK to watch this product (and tell them to) bring [their] kids. 'Yeah. It's on at 9 o'clock but everyone can have a good time.' That's safe for a dad. That's safe for a mom bringing a family of four.

"We're in the live event business. That's a good business move," Cena expressed.
