The Rock Compares Facing Cena & Hogan, The Magnitude Of WrestleMania 28 & More
Recently, The Rock was interviewed by Chris Van Vliet from WOIO in Cleveland. During the interview, The Rock discussed the magnitude of his bout with John Cena, comparing his match with Cena and Hogan, his first big match and more. Here are some of the highlights:
On how he's preparing for Rock vs. Cena: "A lot of Tequila, number one and a lot of pizza. I'm only kidding. [Laughs.] A lot of ring work because there's nothing that you can substitute — you have to get your ass in the ring. So, it's been a lot of ring work over the months and I've had a great training camp. I've been fortunate that I've been able to have rings on location where I've been shooting. Guys coming in and out all apart of the training camp.
"It's been great. Going to these Raws and feeling these audiences has been tremendous. I can't wait. It's going to be a helluva show."
On which match will be bigger in regards to Rock vs. Hogan and Rock vs. Cena: "[Rock vs. Hogan] was the biggest match at that time. This match is bigger based off of the dynamics, based off the promotion and based off were the two individuals are at in their careers.
"The idea was for me to come back — I wanted to come back — and not only entertain the audiences but I also wanted to make history. I wanted to do some big needle-moving things which was to put on the biggest match in the history of WrestleMania. Which is saying a lot and that's very ambitious but there's only one guy I could do that with and that was John Cena.
"So the Hogan match was an amazing match and I always reference that match and I study a lot of film and that's one of the first matches I put in. But this match is going to be different, it's bigger and the dynamics are different."
On finding the time to work wrestling back into his busy schedule: "You got a lot on the plate but you've got to move stuff aside and it's a balancing act. It's a challenge. But at the end of the day, you set your goals and then you move back from there. So, am I busy? Yeah, but we're all busy.
"With something like this, it requires a lot of time and a lot of effort and, also, requires a lot of people coming together to see your vision and your goal — including John, including Vince McMahon, including all the wrestlers here, including the fans. I mean, it is a big machine that relies on a lot of intricate parts."
