WWE Smackdown Recap: The Road To WrestleMania Special Edition

To begin the show, we see a WrestleMania highlight package, showcasing the history of the biggest stage of them all, with celebrities, wrestlers and matches highlighted equally.

Backstage, in front of a television monitor, we see Josh Matthews and Booker T. will be hosting the Road To WrestleMania Special Edition of Smackdown! this week. Josh begins to discuss The Undertaker's WrestleMania streak and mentions that 'Taker will be taking on Triple H in a Hell In A Cell match being considered "The End Of An Era". Shawn Michaels will be the special guest referee. We are then shown highlights of their epic encounter from last year's WrestleMania.

Winner: The Undertaker

Next, we are shown a video package of all the incredible moments involving the Intercontinental championship, including; Pat Patterson, Mr. Perfect, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, Chyna and Chris Jericho. Booker T. mentions that he's been Intercontinental champion before and that it has to be a dream come true defending that championship at WrestleMania. Both Josh and Booker then lead into the greatest Intercontinental championship match in WrestleMania history; Randy Savage vs. Ricky Steamboat at WrestleMania III.

Winner: Ricky Steamboat

After the highlights, we are reminded of the current Intercontinental champion, Cody Rhodes' defense on Sunday against The Big Show.

We are then reminded that Daniel Bryan will defend his World Heavyweight championship against the 2012 Royal Rumble winner: Sheamus. Josh says that Bryan uses under-handed tricks to retain his championship, which is something that Edge was accustomed to while he was an active wrestler. We are then shown a video package of Edge defending his World Heavyweight title against the aforementioned Big Show and John Cena at WrestleMania 25.

Winner: John Cena

Josh Matthews mentions that the World Heavyweight championship changed hands at WrestleMania 25, which was the last time that particular championship changed hands at the grand daddy of them all. We are then reminded of Daniel Bryan vs. Sheamus for the World Heavyweight championship.

Following that reminder, we are reminded of all the main attraction for this weekend's card, including; Randy Orton vs. Kane and Chris Jericho taking on C.M. Punk for the WWE championship.

We are next shown that Chris Jericho isn't unfamiliar with personal rivalries coming to a head at WrestleMania. Highlighted next is Jericho's bout with a man that he personally felt he needed to surpass: Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania XIV.

Winner: Shawn Michaels

Josh Matthews mentions that Randy Orton will be taking on Kane, who will try to make "The Vapor" embrace the hate. However, Josh says, this isn't the first time Orton has had to face a demonic figure, as Orton faced The Undertaker at WrestleMania 21. We are then shown highlights of their encounter. (Winner: The Undertaker)

Booker T. and Josh talk about how The Rock will be taking on John Cena in perhaps the biggest match in WrestleMania history. However, as Booker mentions, The Rock has been in some incredible 'Mania matches in the past, in particular with "Stone Cold" Steve Austin. We are then shown a video package of The Rock vs. Steve Austin in their final encounter at WrestleMania XIV. (Winner: The Rock)

Josh says that The Rock electrified fans with that performance which is actually his last victory at WrestleMania. However, Josh says, that it was not his final appearance as The Rock was the host of WrestleMania 27. At last year's WrestleMania, The Rock interfered in the main event between The Miz and John Cena, which inevitably set the wheels in motion for this "Once In A Lifetime" showdown. We are then shown a video package that highlights the feud between Cena and Rocky.

Josh Matthews and Booker T. then mention that this could be the greatest WrestleMania in history as the show goes off the air.
