Rock Talks G.I. Joe, WWE Titles Added To Netflix, More On WWE's Big Budget Movie Project
- As noted earlier, WWE Studios will be a co-financier for IM Global's new $30 million movie project, Dead Man Down, which stars Colin Farrell, Noomi Rapace, Terrence Howard and Dominic Cooper. Variety has an article looking at the project at this link. In the article, WWE Studios president Michael Luisi revealed that the company "jumped" at the chance to be a part of the project.
"When IM Global presented us with acclaimed director Niels Arden Oplev and the incredible cast ... we jumped at the chance to be a part of this production," said Luisi. "This is exactly the type of collaboration we have been looking for to expand the WWE Studios brand."
- Stone Cold Steve Austin: The Bottom Line on the Most Popular Superstar of All Time, The Rock: The Epic Journey of Dwayne Johnson, The Ladder Match 2 – Crash and Burn, Randy Orton: The Evolution of a Predator and The Best of King of the Ring have been added to Netflix's streaming service.
- Entertainment Weekly has an interview with The Rock about his upcoming movie, G.I. Joe: Retaliation, which opens on June 29th. During the interview, Rock revealed that he would be open to doing another installment of the franchise, and spoke about the differences between this movie and the original.
"I can tell you this one is creatively much different [from the first]," said Rock. "It's rooted, it's grounded, it's real. The studio came to me and I loved the idea of starring in the movie because I grew up on G.I. Joe and it's a massive property. I spoke to the studio and they told me about the creative shift that they wanted to make with the movie, which made it easy for me to sign on."
