WWE Smackdown Recap: Final Extreme Rules Hype, Sheamus Vs. Henry, Ryback, AJ
Welcome to the April 27, 2012 edition of the WWE
Smackdown Recap.
We are in Grand Rapids, MI and 3 days away from Extreme Rules. Tonight, Sheamus will face Mark Henry in a rematch from Monday. Michael Cole and Booker T are on commentary. They show a clip of Lesnar attacking Josh Matthews on Monday. Cole says Matthews is suffering from stiffness and tightness in his neck.
Daniel Bryan YES's his way down to the ring. WWE Magazine has named him "Jerk of the Month." Cole says he's been named that before and it is a "big, prestigious award." Bryan says he cut the umbilical cord and finally got rid of AJ. He says his loss at Mania does not count and should go on AJs record and not his. He says he was a fair referee this past Monday and shows a clip. He does "question and answer time." Did Mark Henry beat Sheamus this past Monday? YES! Did he make Sheamus tap out? YES! Is Sheamus' title run a fluke? YES! Will he get his title back this Sunday? YES!
Alberto del Rio's music hits and he drives up in a Bentley as Ricardo introduces him. He makes his way to the ring as he does his own question and answer session with Ricardo providing the "Si!" Has Bryan been making excuses since Mania? Si! Is the winner this Sunday's match going to face del Rio? Si! Will Bryan be forgotten when del Rio becomes the next champ? Si Si Si Si?
Big Show's music hits. He comes to the ring and asks if it's "Yes or Si?" He motions an attack on Bryan, then del Rio but both men escape out of the ring? Ricardo is not so lucky. He asks him if it's Yes or Si? Ricardo just squeals. Show says. "Si," and gives him a chokeslam.

Big Show vs Alberto del Rio
Big Show's sheer size and power enables him to get the early advantage but del Rio takes focuses on his leg with kicks to cut him down. Once Show is on one knee, he works the left arm, setting Show up for his finisher. Show lifts him up with just that arm and suplexes him to the mat. Show spears him and signals for the chokeslam as he waits for del Rio to get up but Cody Rhodes comes in the ring and clips Show's knee. del Rio kicks show in the back of the head as Show falls to one knee and leaves the ring. Cody brings in a chair and a Kendo Stick from under the ring. Cody strikes Show in the head with the stick but Show no-sells. Cody grabs the chair and swings but Show punches it. Cody removes his belt and charges but Show gives him a big boot in the face. Show picks up the belt and strikes Cody across the back a couple of times before Cody escapes up the ramp. The disqualification is never acknowledged.
John Laurinaitis is backstage giving Eve some pointers regarding her new position as his executive administrator. He says she can make any changes and can come to him for advice. She says she sees all these crew members running around and she doesn't know any of their names and wants them all to wear name tags. Teddy Long shows up and asks what the status of his job is now that Eve is on board. Johnny says Eve is the exec. And Teddy is just his employee. He says from now on Teddy reports to Eve. She tells him to go get a nametag. Teddy walks off.
We get a recap of the Divas match from Monday. The Bellas walk toward the ring. Nikki faces Alicia Fox, next.

Damien Sandow is in another vignette. He talks about enlightenment. He says salvation is only one week away. "You're welcome."
Alicia Fox is already in the ring as the Bellas are introduced.
Nikki Bella w/ Brie vs. Alicia Fox
Nikki dominates first then Alicia gets in some offense. Brie comes in and switches places with Nikki and face-plants Alicia for the pin in a match that last about a minute.
Winner by pin: Nikki Bella

Yoshi Tatsu is backstage warming up and Darren Young & Titus O'Neil show up and make fun of his Japanese heritage. Ezekiel Jackson comes to his defense. The four men have a match later.
Teddy Long is in a maid's outfit with a feather duster and a large name tag that covers his entire chest. Aksana shows up. He is embarrassed and tells her he is doing this so his grandkids' college funds will be safe and that he is happy to have her at his side. She says when he was GM, she didn't know he was old enough to have grandkids. Eve and Johnny enter and Johnny says Aksana's friend Antonio Cesaro has a tryout match tonight. It's Eve's idea to have Teddy be the special guest ring announcer and then have his own Teddy Table to call the match. Johnny says he will feed him lines in his headset and he can't say anything unless Johnny tells him to. Johnny gives him a People Power T-shirt.

Yoshi Tatsu & Ezekiel Jackson are already in the ring. Teddy is off the side of Cole and Booker at his own table. He doesn't acknowledge Cole and just stares straight ahead. Young & O'Neil are introduced.
Yoshi Tatsu & Ezekiel Jackson vs. Darren Young & Titus O'Neil
Cole says Teddy is an idiot for not signing Young & O'Neil. Teddy is told to say that he made a mistake. Yoshi and Young start things off. Young & Titus tag in and out, isolating Yoshi. Young takes Jackson's knee out on the apron. Titus lifts up Yoshi, Young comes off the top with a forearm and Titus gets the pin in about one minute.

Cole is center-ring and introduces Orton. Cole says that Laurinaitis has said that if any superstar touches any announcer they will be suspended. The crowd chants "RKO." Orton says he tends to not be so rational when he is "pushed." We get a video recap of Orton's adventures with Kane as of late. Orton says he will make Kane suffer this Sunday. Jinder Mahal's music hits. He comes to the ring and says Kane and Orton will take each other out at Extreme Rules and make room for a new breed. He says Orton's time at the top is over. He says he'll be waiting for Orton on the other side and turns to leave. Orton says wait. He asks Mahal if he's an announcer. Mahal says no and he gets an RKO.

Akasana is in the ring. She introduces Tyson Kidd who is already in the ring (bad sign) She introduces Antonio Cesaro who has his own theme and Titantron.
Tyson Kidd vs. Antonio Cesaro
Cesaro is rather impressive. Kidd makes him look good and Cesaro pins him in under a minute. (sad)

Aksana comes in and embraces him. Laurinaitis makes Teddy go to the ring and raise Cesaro's arm in victory. Aksana and Cesaro kiss as Teddy looks on in agony. Teddy walks to the back.

The Great Khali vs. Cody Rhodes
Khali takes control only to have his knee taken out. Cody goes up top with a missile dropkick and gets a near fall. Cody goes back to the left knee. Cody goes for the Disaster Kick but Khali catches him and drops him with a double-handed chokeslam. Khali gets the pin in a little over a minute.
Winner by pin: The Great Khali
AW is backstage with Epico & Primo and Rosa Mendes. He is outraged that they were not on Mania or scheduled at Extreme Rules. He says with his guidance they can do more. He needs their descision by Monday. Ryback shows up and stares at Epico and leaves. AW follows and wants to "do lunch."

Ryback's jobber opponent is already in the ring and is introduced as being from Grand Rapids to a few cheers. The Uso's are watching a monitor backstage. The guy's name is Jacob Kaye and he grabs the mic and says he's been watching all the no-names get squashed each week but that is all about to change. He gets some heel heat on himself by saying he wants to escape Grand Rapids and says he will be the first man to beat Ryback.
Ryback vs. Jacob Kaye
Kaye charges at Ryback but is swatted away like a fly. Ryback decimates Kaye in a match that lasts about as long as most of the other matches on tonight's card.
Winner by pin: Ryback
The Uso's are impressed backstage.
We get a video recap of AJ losing it last week. Cole and Booker play up her emotional state. She is shown walking backstage and is interrupted by Matt Striker. He wants ans update on her relationship with Daniel Bryan. She says no. Striker wants to know her prediction on Bryan's match on Sunday. She shakes her head, no, but Striker is persistent and asks her if she suffered a nervous breakdown last week. Kaitlyn interrupts and asks what is wrong with him. Striker says he's sorry and walks away. AJ goes to leave but Kaitlyn grabs her arm and says that Bryan was a joke and didn't love her. AJ slaps her across the face. AJ seems remorseful as Kaitlyn looks on in disbelief. AJ looks very disturbed and sad.
Sheamus comes to the ring.

Mark Henry comes to the ring.
Mark Henry vs. Sheamus
Henry gets the early power advantage. Sheamus ducks a clothesline and takes out Henry's knee. Sheamus works the left arm but Henry throws him out of the ring with it. Henry follows and brings him back in. Sheamus hits a shoulder block and gets a 1 count. Henry rolls to the outside to regroup.

Henry bodyslams Sheamus and goes for a splash but
Sheamus moves. Sheamus hits some forearms to Henry but Henry hits him with a reverse elbow and tosses him to the outside. Henry throws him into the security wall at ringside. Back in the ring Henry continues his offense. Sheamus fights back but Henry knocks him back down. Sheamus rocks Henry with a couple of double axe-handles and finally knocks him down with the third one. Sheamus hits a DDT. Mark Henry side steps the Brogue Kick and knocks Sheamus down with a clothesline. Sheamus kicks out at 2. Sheamus hits the Brogue Kick for the win.
Winner by pin: Sheamus
Daniel Bryan appears on the stage and applauds. Sheamus grabs the mic and invites him in the ring. Sheamus asks if he's afraid that he's going to beat him in 18 seconds. The crowd chants "18 Seconds." Sheamus says he got off easy at Mania. Sheamus says the question is will he kick his 'arse' at Extreme Rules. "And the answer is Yes, Yes, Yes?"
