Shawn Michaels Talks Concussions In Pro Wrestling, Protecting The Athletes
The Miami Herald has posted the third part of their interview with WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels. During the interview, HBK discussed his faith and personal responsibility. He also talked about concussions in pro wrestling.
"I've had a fair amount of them [concussions]," said Michaels. "This is one of the 101 things that makes me probably not popular with everybody and their agenda. I'm 100 percent behind finding out the cause with technology and doing everything we can to minimize those things and take care of the athletes. I'm not down with that's the excuse why everybody does what that they do. I've had my bell rung a bunch, and I still have no desire to hurt anybody. I'm down with finding out everything we can, doing everything we can to protect athletes. I think it does need to at least be understood that they're still finding out.
"Any guy who's a real athlete always tells you he can go. I like the fact now they're making guys stay out, but take it easy on the sports, too. Yes, they're businesses. Do they exploit the athletes? Yes, but we want to be exploited. It's a give-n-take.
"Let the scientists, let all these guys get in there; they'll find out. Let's see what we can do to help athletes. Let's see what we can do to protect them and enforce it. That's why it's called technology because we're always behind the learning curve."
Michaels also spoke about finding his faith when he was away from WWE and how some feel that he is full of it in regards to his religious beliefs, you can check out the interview by clicking here.
