WWE SmackDown Recap (Video): Punk Vs. Kane, Sheamus Vs. Ziggler, More Big Show Carnage

Welcome to this week's edition of the WrestlingInc.com WWE SmackDown Recap.

A video package runs of the issue that has developed among Kane, Daniel Bryan, and CM Punk. Punk defends against Kane tonight; the first WWE Championship match on SmackDown in 4 years.

We are in Baton Rouge, LA and 2 weeks away from No Way Out. Lilian Garcia introduces Sheamus to the ring. He says that after Alberto Del Rio became the #1 contender last week, he congratulated him the only way he knew how. He plays the video of him taking Del Rio out. He says Del Rio's money can't buy him the title. David Otunga's music hits.

Otunga orders Sheamus to apologize for running into Laurinaitis 2 weeks ago on RAW. Del Rio's music hits and he drives up in a Bentley. He walks to the ring and calls Sheamus a hooligan. He says people like Sheamus end up working for people like he and Otunga. He will win the World Title at the PPV. Otunga says Del Rio can pick Sheamus' opponent for the night.

Sheamus says he is sorry but not for what he did to Johnny, and he hits the Brogue Kick on Otunga as Del Rio escapes to safety. Sheamus says he's sorry for taking Otunga's head off.

Sin Cara returns next?

Sin Cara returns with new red and white gear and no trampoline for his entrance. He instead slides in the ring and moonsaults off the ropes.

Sin Cara vs. Heath Slater

Slater kicks Sin Cara in the gut and goes behind with an armbar that Sin Cara counters into a hiptoss and throws Slater out of the ring. Slater puts the boots to him in the ring and works the legs. Sin Cara flips out of a suplex and hits kicks to Slater's legs. Sin Cara flies off with a crossbody and does an airplane spin with his legs wrapped around Slater's neck and maneuvers into side faceplant for the pin.

Winner by pin: Sin Cara

Damien Sandow vs. Ezekiel Jackson

Jackson gets the jobber entrance as Sandow is introduced. Sandow asks for a mic. He says he will not wrestle against this ignoramus. Jackson brings him in the hard way over the top rope and unloads on him. Sandow hits some vicious knees to the gut and an elbow-drop for 2. Sandow hits a modified neckbreaker for the win.

Winner by pin: Damien Sandow

Sandow wipes himself off and does a cartwheel.

Del Rio is approached backstage by Ziggler. Del Rio says he can face Sheamus tonight.

Two skinny jobbers are in the ring and they botch their promo against Ryback and the Louisiana fans. Ryback's music hits.

Ryback vs. Ryan Shelton & Chris Lyons

Ryback squashes the men and lifts them both at the same time on his back and drops them for the win.

Winner by double pin: Ryback

-RAW Rebound: Big Show

Vickie Guerrero comes out and starts to say she has made a special arrangement but Ziggler walks up and takes her mic and says he will beat the World Champion tonight. He walks to the ring with determination and purpose.

Sheamus vs. Dolph Ziggler

Ziggler goes for a hiptoss but Sheamus over powers him and throws him off. Ziggler hits a nice dropkick. Sheamus fights back with clubbing blows to Ziggler's back and hits a shoulderblock for 2. Ziggler flies off with a crossbody but Sheamus catches him in midair and rolls through with a slam for a 2.
Sheamus throws Ziggler over the top using Ziggler's own momentum.

Sheamus hits double axe-handles to Ziggler and hits a knee in the corner. Ziggler escapes out of the ring, overtaking offense as Sheamus goes out to bring him back in. Ziggler dropkicks Sheamus and he goes flying into the announce booth. Sheamus makes it back in the ring at the count of 7. Ziggler does a handstand while he has a headlock applied. Sheamus powers up but Ziggler hits a DDT. Ziggler picks up the intensity.

Ziggler jumps on Sheamus' back with a DDT and Sheamus dumps him on the apron to escape any further damage. Sheamus hits his clubbing punches to Ziggler in the ropes and gets 2. Sheamus hits a backbreaker and gets another 2. Sheamus goes up top but is knocked off balance by Ziggler who brings Sheamus down hard with an impressive faceplant from the top. Ziggler is slow with the cover and gets 2. Ziggler jumps on Sheamus' back and presumably goes for the Zig Zag but Sheamus knocks him off like a fly and hits the White Noise side slam. Sheamus waits for Ziggler to get up to hit the Brogue Kick as Jack Swagger runs up on the apron. Sheamus punches him and throws Ziggler into him and then hits the Brogue Kick for the win.

Winner by pin: Sheamus

CM Punk is backstage. He says tonight the best in the world will make the devil's favorite demon go to sleep.

Titus O'Neil & Darren Young vs. Santino & Zack Ryder

Titus and Darren double team Santino and make frequent tags. Zack Ryder comes in to help but is knocked out of the ring by Darren. Santino rolls Darren up for the pin. The match lasts about 1 minute.

Winners by pin: Santino & Zack Ryder

Santino and Ryder celebrate on the stage as Big Show comes up from behind and grabs them by the neck and throws Santino into the WWE logo and throws Ryder around on the ramp. He throws Ryder into steel steps. Show grabs the steps and drags it to the center of the ramp as Ryder tries to fight back. Show picks him up and slams him on the steps. Show drags the steps up to the stage, drapes Santino's body over them and sits on his back, pulling back on his chin. Show punches Santino in the back of the head and knocks him out. Show yells at the crowd to smile for him as they "boo." Show walks to the back as we see the carnage.

Daniel Bryan is backstage with AJ. He tells her CM Punk doesn't care about her. AJ says he's just jealous and says he doesn't even care about her. He chuckles and says she's right but he touches her cheek and says that he did once, and walks away.

Cody Rhodes vs. Tyson Kidd

Kidd immediately hits a leg sweep but is quickly cut off. Rhodes puts the boots to him. Rhodes faceplants Kidd and looks over at Christian. Kidd goes for the Sharpshooter but Rhodes shoves him in the corner. Rhodes hits the Cross Rhodes for the win in about a minute.

Winner by pin: Cody Rhodes

Rhodes and Christian have a stare-down but cooler heads prevail.

WWE Championship:
CM Punk vs. Kane

Punks feels Kane out with kick attempts and goes to work in the corner but Kane overpowers him. Kane goes flying out of the ring after Punk pulls the top rope down. Punk flies off the top with a double axe-handle to the outside. Back in the ring, Kane overtakes Punk. Punk takes out the knee and stomps Kane in the corner. Punk wraps Kane's arm around the steel post. Punk hits kicks and elbows. Kane regains offense and gets 1. More back and forth. Kane throws Punk out of the ring.

Punk is in control with kicks and punches. Kane powers him out of the ring again. AJ comes to ringside. Kane drops Punk across the security wall and brings Punk back in and gets 2. Kane hits a bodyslam and an elbow for a 1. Kane goes for a chokeslam but Punk reverses it into a DDT in mid-air. Both men struggle to get up. Punk hits a high knee in the corner and a swinging neckbreaker for 2. They go back and forth with combinations and counters. Punk kicks Kane in the back of the head and goes for the cover but Kane kicks out at 2. Kane hits a vicious kick to Punk's head and gets 2. Punks hits a bulldog off the second turnbuckle for 2.

Punk lifts Kane up for the GTS but his legs buckle and he falls face first with Kane of his back. Kane hits a front dropkick and gets 2. Kane goes up top and flies off but Punk counter with a dropkick. Punk goes up top as AJ gets on the apron to cheer him as Bryan runs down on the apron and Punk hits a crossbody on him. Kane tries a chokeslam but Punk kicks him in the head and hits an elbowdrop from the top and only gets 2. Punk can't believe it. Punk springboards off the ropes but runs right into a right hand from Kane. Kane goes for a chokeslam but Bryan flies off the top turnbuckle with a front dropkick to both men. Bryan kicks Punk as he screams "yes!" Punk manages a clothesline and lifts him up for the GTS but Kane comes in and chokeslams both men at the same time.

No Contest/Double Disqualification

John Laurinaitis rolls out in his wheelchair with Eve and announces that the WWE Title match at the PPV will be a triple threat match.
