- Robert Wilonsky of DallasNews.com is reporting that songwriter Jimmy Papa is suing WWE for improperly claiming ownership and not paying royalties for nearly a dozen songs that he performed. Some of those songs include The Fabulous Freebirds' theme song "Badstreet U.S.A.," Mick Foley's WCW theme "Mr. Bang Bang," Ron Simmons' WCW theme "Don't Step to Ron" and Jake "The Snake" Roberts' WCW theme "Master Of The DDT."
Papa alleges that WWE took credit for writing those tracks, and is improperly claiming ownership of those songs. Papa recently checked to see if "Badstreet USA" was properly registered to him and his companies and discovered that the song was "improperly and erroneously reregistered" by WWE and given a new registration number, which resulted in WWE receiving royalties for the song.
